    Solved! Seasonic M12II EVO (520W) for a GIGA-BYTE Z390 UD m/board -- Q about 4-pin ATX 12V power connector

Judging by the replies here and here, it sounds like this connection is unnecessary in many cases. I'm just going to get an i5-9400F, so I think it should be fine.

    Solved! Seasonic M12II EVO (520W) for a GIGA-BYTE Z390 UD m/board -- Q about 4-pin ATX 12V power connector

I have an existing Seasonic M12II EVO (520W) PSU and I'm considering purchasing a GIGA-BYTE Z390 UD m/board – will it work? How do I connect the 4-pin ATX 12V power connector? Is the PSU missing that?

BOOT_DEVICE_LED on Asus Z97-A staying on – what does it mean?

I think at the time I was just in the BIOS, wondering what was going on. I think it went off before I started the Win 7 installation, but I'm not sure. Anyway, all is good for now. Thanks. =)

It seems to have gone off now. Strange.

BOOT_DEVICE_LED on Asus Z97-A staying on – what does it mean?

I just built a new system, and I can access the BIOS without issues (although at one point it froze for some reason), but the BOOT_DEVICE_LED is staying on all the time – what does this mean? I had 4 devices connected at first: SSD#1 - new/unformatted SSD#2 - win 7 + another partition...

New build after 5 years – need some advice please

True. I like to stretch my budget a little so that the system will last as long as possible. I also prefer to select the components myself.

New build after 5 years – need some advice please

CPU - It feels a bit weird getting a server CPU for a desktop, plus the extra expense, so I think I might just stick with the i5-4690. M/board - I'm not a huge fan of ASRock (probably for no good reason though), are there are any (full ATX) Asus or Gigabyte options? RAM - I have 4GBs now...

New build after 5 years – need some advice please

Hey, I guess about R10,000. Initially I wanted this to include a new monitor, because I thought that LED backlighting might be better for my eyes, but after some research it seems that it may be the opposite, so I will stick with my current monitor for now. This means that I have a bit extra...

    StarCraft 2 @ 1920x1080 ... what do I need?

I want it to run well, not "fine with some lag". ;) I also want high or ultra quality, which I'm pretty sure you won't have with your IGP. :)

    StarCraft 2 @ 1920x1080 ... what do I need?

Yes I have, that's how I knew I needed an upgrade. :) It recommended medium settings, but I'm not happy with the graphics or the performance. That's true, and I hope that I won't need a CPU upgrade at this time. Do you know if it's possible to view CPU usage while playing? Thanks, I did just...

    StarCraft 2 @ 1920x1080 ... what do I need?

And an HD6850? I think the Asus requires 2x6pin connectors, and my PSU only has one, but I think it comes with a 2xmolex to 6pin cable, would that work?

    StarCraft 2 @ 1920x1080 ... what do I need?

Don't really want to spend more than R750 or so. Silent cooling is a big plus. What about the GT 430s, how far would that get me?

    StarCraft 2 @ 1920x1080 ... what do I need?

Hi, Which reasonably low-cost gfx card will run SC2 at the above resolution with high quality settings? I have an ATI Radeon HD 3400 Series now, because I wasn't planning on playing any games ... that changed. :) My PSU is a 460W Cooler Master. I've read that nVidia cards are better...

PC making a clicking noise followed by a shutdown/restart noise

I set the "Turn off HDD after X minutes of inactivity" option to 0 minutes, and I haven't heard the sounds since. I was initially confused as to why this setting would take effect while I was working on my computer, but I've recently realised that it was probably my other HDD that was spinning...

PC making a clicking noise followed by a shutdown/restart noise

It's not a constant clicking sound, it only happens once in a while, and it's a single click (maybe a PC speaker noise), followed by what might well be a HDD spin down.

PC making a clicking noise followed by a shutdown/restart noise

Ya, it makes the powering down sound. Asus P5Q + Intel E8500. I didn't see many relevant options in the BIOS. I've set the HDD to never turn off after inactivity (in Windows). I'm going to monitor it now and see if it happens again.

PC making a clicking noise followed by a shutdown/restart noise

Hi, I recently installed Windows 7 on a new WD 320GB SATA II HDD, and every once in a while it makes a clicking sound, and then the system sounds as if it's shutting down or restarting (I think it may be the HDD spinning down). The system also seems to freeze for a second or two during this...

Horrible screen artifacts, what could be the cause?

Update: I've been using my old GPU for nearly three weeks now and I haven't experienced the issue once, so I've returned the new card. Thanks again for the help.

Horrible screen artifacts, what could be the cause?

Nah, it tends to happen immediately, no time for the screen saver to start. Like I said "I didn't have any problems with the monitor before the upgrade." + "I just tried moving the cable around a bit and nothing happens.". Possible, but I'm not convinced. I actually still have my old card...

Horrible screen artifacts, what could be the cause?

    * I didn't have any problems with the monitor before the upgrade. (I do have a small ant problem though) * I just tried moving the cable around a bit and nothing happens. * No. * I wouldn't too be surprised if I cracked the darn thing when trying to get the HSF to fit! But you'd think that...

Horrible screen artifacts, what could be the cause?

Hi, I'm still experiencing issue #3 here. When it happens (every once in a while), it seems to be attached to certain areas of the screen, like the task bar, the cursor, etc. (which makes me think it's a gfx card issue, but I'm not completely sure). Have a look at this image which shows...

    PSU advice

Unfortunately I live in South Africa, so I don't have access to such prices ... the Antec Earthwatts 380W is about R820 / $90 here. D.

    PSU advice

Right, but I'm not sure I trust it. I tried, but couldn't find one to borrow. I've gone with a 460W, mostly because there is only a small price difference between the 390 and the 460. Thanks for your help.
  34. D

    PSU advice

You're sure that's enough? An Antec 380W Earthwatts is more than double the price of a 390W Cooler Master -- I'm not sure I can justify paying that, especially since the problem might not be the PSU. Thanks, D.

    PSU advice

Hi, I think my PSU might be the cause of the problem I'm having where my system is rebooting itself every once in a while. (see here) So, I'm looking to purchase a new one -- any advice, suggestions, etc.? Using this calculator gives me a figure of about 270W. My current PSU is a 450W...
