    Best mobo for i7-875K ?

I ordered an 875k with that board today - what's the chance that it is a revision 2 one, and not revision 1? I only realised on closer inspection after purchasing that there was a version 1 after checking Gigabytes website, and I'm worried the BIOS might not support the new chip :S Would it...

    gtx465 reviews are up

Looking at the peformance, I'll definately be going with a 5850 now - was just holding on to see what the competition released, but as it's just as power hungry as the other fermi chips, and has lower performance, there's absolutely nothing going for it.

    Intel's "Black Edition" Finally Here

When will the 875K chips appear in retail - I've not seen anything yet? I can't seem to find any info in any article I read either. Is this just a paper-launch?

    GTX 465 revealed.....enet.com.cn

I'd prefer the 460 route on that basis. Even 150W TDP is a bit high though for me.

GeForce GTX460 rumoured to launch at Computex

I put the figures into an excel spreadsheet, and if everything followed up the same, then the 460 should have 85% of the power consumption of a 470, putting it just slightly less than a 5870. Which is obviously still not good, as it'll probably perform around 5830 territory.

Intel vs AMD systems on reliability/longevity

I built an AMD system in 2006, still using it today, but the orginal MSI motherboard only lasted about 6 months....

    I just ordered a 5870...

I'm intending to get a 5850 (or 5770) and have been slightly put off by the GSOD issues myself, but there doesn't seem to be all that many peope complaining, so I'll probably still get a 5850/5770 anyway. NVidia just doesn't have any viable alternative right now. Enjoy your new card!

What is your oldest working cpu

I've got the 1.2Ghz version that I still use occasionally as the printer is set up on that one. I also have a 120Mhz (P150+) 6x86 IBM processor machine on top on my wardrobe, but that hasn't been used since around 2002-2003. I guess it *might* still boot.

    *Possible* New 470 Benchmarks

I do hope these Fermi cards are fast - I want the prices on the 5850's to come down for when I buy my PC :P

    32nm Quad's and Hexa's coming in March?

Techpowerup has some info about the 970 and also an 880 here: Link

What if there were no overclocking in this world?

I don't think it would change things much - people would still get what they personally consider as the best value chip, and one that they can afford.

    32nm Quad's and Hexa's coming in March?

The prices of these will probably be ridiculous, so it's not something that will change most peoples choices.

Anybody misses the Socket 478 HSF mechanism?

    XFX 6600GT Failure

My Dads Leadtek 6600GT (PCI-E) just died today :/ All corrupt graphics etc on screen, then blank screen, then crash/reboot. Corruption on BIOS etc. Strange how it just suddenly happens, it's not exactly warm in the room it is in either.

Intel Tick Tock slows down: Sandy Bridge slips into 2011?

I think I *might* go for the Xeon route if it has much benefit other than being simply 32nm. No point getting it if it has no clock-speed/performance advantage.

    Is a 9400GT an upgrade from a 7900GS?

What's your budget? [EDIT] If you don't play any games, there isn't much point to get another graphics card.

    Intel Core i7-930 arriving Q1 2010

Link Specs look slightly wrong though - it says 2.88Ghz, but it's more likely to be 2.8Ghz. It also mentions it could be 32nm or 45nm, but tbh, it's most likely to be a 45nm part as nothing in Intels roadmaps suggests a 32nm Quad early next year.

Leaked Lynnfield Quick (and Long) Bench(es)

Hmm, I like that the Anno 1404 test has the old single core A64 4000+ thrown in there. i have a 3800+, so even slower - so basically if I aim for a processor faster than the i7 860 in summer next year when I plan to get a new PC, I'll have performance at least 15 times faster in a fully...

How far away are 6 and 8 core CPU's?

I'm hoping for 32nm 8 core CPU's by roughly this time next year, which is when I intend to upgrade. Unfortunately, they'll probably cost a fortune if they are available.

    POLL: X4 955 vs. Q9*50

As the processors are similar in performance and price, it all comes down to power consumption for me, personally, and so I'd go with Intel.

    E6850 to i7 920 - Worth it?

I'd stick with what you have for now, it's more than fast enough for virtually everything - I doubt you'd notice any increase in performance (not talking exact numbers, just perception). The only exception is in something like a heavy RTS title, such as Supreme Commander, or GTA4 which is just...

    Underclocking a 3200+ Venice (754)

I was basing my comment around your manual underclock to 1.6Ghz and undervolt (i.e. comparing the load scenario) - I should have stated that :) With the cool and quiet, I'd have to compare it to a like-wise idle or low-usage situation, and from what I've seen in reviews, another smaller portion...

    Underclocking a 3200+ Venice (754)

You might save about 15-20watts on the CPU with those settings from stock; of course if you take into account the overclock power, then it might be around 30watts as an estimate. Hard to work out really. It's probably not a huge amount under normal circumstances, but nice to have if you really...

    GT212 updates

I'm secretly hoping NVidia make a GTX260 that has a shorter PCB around 9 inch or less so it can fit in my case - I doubt It'll happen though. 40nm and GDDR5 could make something like that possible though(?)

There should be settings that lower the multiplier for the RAM so it doesn't get too high a clock, possibly even to fix it at default PC6400 speeds, as I can only see that as limiting you at the moment if that keeps rising. You should be able to easily raise the FSB then, although it'll probably...
