I'm on Windows 7 and it's stuck on the Starting Windows screen for about 30 seconds before starting. I hear the hard drive do the click/power on sound then it works. It's an SSD. Safe mode also takes about 30s before loading.
I was messing with the fan settings in the BIOS around the time...
I have a ~$600 budget. This will be for general use, light gaming and video transcoding. I want this build to be a bit quieter and I'm willing to splurge a little. If you want to replace some parts, feel free but I think I'm sticking with the case. The $0 parts below are the ones that'll be...
I use this online tool to check: http://www.canyouseeme.org. Every port I try is blocked.
I also use an offline tool called Simple Port Tester. Here it shows the ports I've opened as open.
Sorry for the confusion. I currently have the parts listed (reusing them) except for the CPU and memory; planning to get the latter two.
I might go for a i5 4670K bundle; it actually seems cheaper that way.
Got a new card, but had the same problem. It was the stupid DVI cable since it worked when I used a VGA adapter. Ah well, sort of wanted a new video card anyway.
The 6600 series is several generations newer than my old card though, why is it a small upgrade? I mainly play Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3 right now. I want to get Bioshock Infinite some time and maybe other games.
I definitely want the card to be under $100.
My HD3850 just died. Got a HD3870 dual slot from a friend, but it's too big to fit in my computer. So I need something in size similar to my old card.
The old card is 7.7 x 4.5 x 1.4 inches (WxHxD). I can fit a few more centimeters in width. Suggestions?
Ok, I managed to switch to my onboard graphics and it works. So it's definitely my video card.
Can the refresh rate cause any of this? I remember messing between 60 and 75hz, but no problems while I was doing that though.
I don't remember the full specs, but
Q6600
ATI HD 3850
SanDisk extreme 240gb
I'm trying to get my hands on a video card and vga cable as I don't have that either.
I have no idea what happened. I pressed enter key when it was loading after a crash and now I can't see anything. CCan't even get to bios.
I'm on windows 7. Recently installed an ssd drive. Computer is a Dell 530.
It appears the OS works since I got the music player working through random...
Yes. That pic is from the PSU I'm using now. The VP450 also uses a 24-Pin, but it's way smaller than the one I'm using. Will it actually fit my motherboard? Maybe I didn't try to fit it hard enough.
Edit: Fixed. I didn't realize the pieces were suppose to stick together...
Brave 7/10 - The animation is amazing; the rest, not so much. The story was pretty unoriginal and cliched. Throughout the movie it felt more of a Dreamworks film.
I'm currently running a Q6660. I plan to add an SSD and a 6670 and that should give me a few more years.
What should I get; I prefer something on the quieter side. ~$60 enough?
You'll be back. What I do is just limit soda drinking to certain days. I watch all my NBC Thursday shows on Friday and that's when I drink a can. Saturday is also my movie night so I drink another can then. Max limit of two cans per week.
