Buying PC components now

I am having a lot of trouble with my NEC burner, so I would say Plextor. Never had a problem with them.

NEC 3520A Question

Excuse me, but it's a CD-R and DVD-R COMBO burner. I bough this because it ADVERTISED speeds of 48X for burning CD-R's. So far I am having trouble getting my product to do what it has ADVERTISED. I'm gonna try the new firmwares and if they don't work, I'll eat the restock and get a burner...

I've been trying to find a single mention about the drive on the NEC website and has been unable to find these firmware drivers anywhere there. And it is a POS.

Man no one even told me that it is such a POS. I don't want that TDK media, it's useless. It doesn't come with cases. I can't store CDs with no cases. I guess I'll have to eat the restocking or sell it somewhere. :( I am such a moron

Damn it, what a POS burner. ARGH. I don't even think I can RMA it...or I'd have eat restock. Damn POS nec. Next time I'm sticking with Plextor.

My media is 48X capable. It says so on the box, 1x to 48x Sony high speed media.

First time builder, Athlon 64 Rig

Crappy video, get somethin else. Trust me, if you play games, you will need a better card especilly with stuff like Battlefield 2. It will all be wasted if you don't get at least a 6800. Try to get a GT. I made the mistake of getting a cheaper card...

How do I get my player to burn CDs at full speed? I'm using nero 6. and it's only showing up a speed of 32x when the drive is capable of 48x!

Floppy drive not wanting to work ?

Checked that already and it's plugged in right. I have a feeling this is something to do with windows because ir lights up in BIOS and seems to be recognized in BIOS.

Bios says Drive A : 1.44M, 3.5In. So I guess it is enabled. Still nothing in windows!

It lights up at boot and then doesn't light up anymore. I don't see a specific option for enabling floppy support in bios :/

Hey, I just installed my floppy drive from my old comp to my new one. One problem, it doesn't work. It works fine in old comp, so I know it's not the floppy. Power light lights up, so it's not that. However when I put a disc in it doesn't recognize it. It's not the disc cause it happens...

I can't. When you install windows, it doesn't allow you to make a partion bigger then 130 GB. It only recognizes the other 50 after service pack 2 and if I reinstall windows it will be back at service pack none?

Ok I'm having a problem here. I decided to get two partions. One a normal partion and one as a backup. I only need about 30GB for backup at most, so I want the rest to be my main partion. However I cant get a partion smaller then 130GB for my main partion. I don't need 50GB for backup. Any...

Setting up cable modem on new computer...

My cable modem doesn't seem to want to work. I plugged it into the on board networking card on my motherboard and set the IP adress to automatically renew. However it cant seem to renew the IP adress and gives me an error that has something to do with DHCP? Any ideas?

What are the benefits of a seperate OS partion? How would I put it on D? How can I determine how much space I would need for an OS partion?

My power supply comes with a square connector that seems to have 4 pins in it. I can find no place on the motherboard to plug it in? It's an ATX 2.0 Antec PSU unit.

Installing a PCI-Express Display Adapter

Never done this. Installed AGP cards with ease but this is kinda confusing. There a little latch on the side of the buss like on the memory slots. How does this work? The manual isn't much of a help. It says to just slide it in gently...

Hmm installing the heatsink included some force. Otherwise it wouldnt latch on both sides so I had to push it down with a screwdriver. It seems snug. I hope I didn't break anything. *sigh*
