Interim processor for my 780i?

Quicktime hasseling me

Correct/Preferred OS Installation Procedure

If you reformat frequently, the best way to do it is to install all of the stuff in the order everyone else has already said, but then create a ghost image of it so that next time around it takes about 15 minutes to reload your computer to the optimal "fresh" state. fyi, Symantec makes Ghost

Do you have a lot of stuff running in the background? turn off unnecessary apps in your task bar. At your own risk, turning off things like One Access Virus scanning should improve speed. Also, the DVD player is probably IDE... If its on the same ribbon as the Hard Drive your operating...

Need help installing 250GB SATA drive

download and install sp2 from MS and install it from the desktop. Dont worry about slipping it into your XP install CD unless you've already formatted your computer and need to reinstall.

What causes memory to fail?

heat i believe is the number one cause of degradation under the hood. If you havent been in side the case in a while, check to see there isnt 3 inches of dustbunnies on your CPU fan or worse, hair coiled around it slowing it down. Also see: Cheap RAM, electrical storms, overclocking
