Woah! HL2 graphics never seem to stop amazing me.

That's awesome. HL2 would be a great game if I didn't feel like I was going to throw up whenever I play it. Not that I hate the game, I'm being serious. It's the only game I can't play without feeling as if I'm going to puke, it's really odd.

Why partition a hard drive???

Because a hard drive has to be partitioned before it can be formatted. Without partitioning, you would have no place to store data. :P

Part time job that earn 50$ / hr

You people are lucky. McDonalds around here only pays $5.60 per hour (minimum wage is $5.15). But then again, we can actually buy a 5,000 sq. foot house for 200k here (Missouri), so I guess it all works out. :)

LCD refresh rates

LCD's don't have lower resolutions than CRT's, not sure what you're talking about there. My LCD's resolution is 1280x1024, bigger than any of my CRT's. LCD's usually, in fact, have better resolutions than a CRT monitor of the same size. As far as refresh rate goes, LCD's don't have them. You...

Can you make two hard drives look like one?

RAID 0 will do it, but make sure they're backed up... At all times. Single files split across 2 hard drives = twice the rate of failure. If one drive dies, all data from both drives is gone. I'm sure you know this though, so as long as you know what you're doing and know to back stuff up... I...

Hate my Logitech mouse

It's worth it to put it in the charger every night (though I've found I can go 4 days + without a charge) to not have to deal with cords. Seriously, it takes 2 seconds. Pick it up, place in charger, done. It's worth it - to me anyway. :)

low budget, need video card

Look on eBay for a ti4800, ti4600 or ti4200. The "higher" the number, the better the card. Get a 128MB version of it. Girlfriend has a system with a 120mb ti4200 and a 3200+ Athlon XP, plays UT2004, all of the Splinter Cells, Far Cry, etc. fine at 1024x768. Great super-budget card.

Are there cons to cranking up DPI on a monitor?

Yeah, I leave my DPI set normal because on some programs it just makes it look..... Funny. Nothing stopping you from trying it though, definitely the best way to find out for your self. :)

Okay, Gaming rig, <$2000, PLEASE look it over.

the santa cruz is dying :(

Doubt it's for you, but if you're on a budget, I ordered a Chaintech AV-710 from newegg a few weeks ago, amazed at the quality. Crisp 7.1 output for 25 bucks! No selectable output though, I just use a splitter.

What if you opened your HDD...

Yeah, hard drives are not vaccum sealed. They do have a hole in them to keep the pressure equal. You can find it if you look around on most hard drives, a lot of the time there will be a warning sticker pointing at the hole warning you not to cover it. It is, of course, filtered to keep dust...

How well would a Ti 4600 play UT2k4?

Girlfriend has a mobile 2400+ at 3200+ speeds with a ti4200 128mb agp 8x stock speed card. Plays UT2004 like a dream. Also good on Farcry, CS:S, all of the Splinter Cells, Raven Shield, etc.

Upgrading CPU Northwood or Prescott

2.4C's are AWESOME overclockers. Even if you just get it to 3 ghZ, the BUS speed is so high it will blow away anything else in the 3 ghZ area. Definitely play with your 2.4C first, especially if you can get your hands on some good ram.
