    R9 390 in a mITX Case

Fair enough! I agree that you have overly flexible at times with component choice in SFF builds. It's not helpful that information on part compatibility is sometimes spotty at best. Picking a case has been a PITA and switching to a GTX 970 is still on the table. Hopefully it will all be...

    R9 390 in a mITX Case

But I already have a good idea of what internal components I want. I'm just trying to see if there is a SFF case that A) I will like and B) that will work with the components I have chosen (i5-4460, R9 390, 1xSSD 1xHDD, 8GB memory, etc...) My apartment is small and my desk/TV space is small, so...

    R9 390 in a mITX Case

Portability and space in a small apartment. I may move it on a semi-frequent basis depending on what I want to use it for (TV vs. Desk) and depending on what space my SO & other roommate is using. I've looked at other cases and some of the ones I have considered in the past are the Temjin PJ08...

    R9 390 in a mITX Case

That looks pretty neat! SilverStone's Milo and Raven Series cases are nice for the price (ML08 caught my eye). The only sticking point is that you need SFX(-L) PSU's which are costly from what I have seen so far. I'll keep looking though! Small and cheap with good airflow is not the easiest...

Advice Wanted: ~$1000 Canadian mITX Skylake Build (Now Haswell)

Any recommendations for a SSF case that will accommodate a R9 390? Switching from Skylake to Haswell brought the overall cost down and so I used the extra funds to upgrade the GPU. The i5-6400 is approximately the same price as the i5-4590 (the 4590 is a better performer if I understand...

    R9 390 in a mITX Case

Are there any alternative SFF cases that may accommodate the R9 390? I know the Bitfenix Prodigy may be able to, though it's a bit large for my liking.

    R9 390 in a mITX Case

The R9 Nano is out of my price range, unfortunately! I was talked out of buying a R9 380 and now am looking at my R9 390 options. I know it's a rather "warm" card so I want to make sure it wont cook itself in the case. Finding a balance between small size and performance has been a bit of a...

    R9 390 in a mITX Case

I'm wondering if anybody can share their experience with using the R9 390 in an mITX form factor. I'm presently looking at the XFX DD R9 390 and I might place it into the CoolerMaster Elite 130 mITX case. I have seen cases where people have had trouble keeping their 290/290x at an acceptable...

Advice Wanted: ~$1000 Canadian mITX Skylake Build (Now Haswell)

Awesome! I hope the card works well for you! I had a 6850 up until this point and it lasted quite well over the years. I cannot imagine a r9 390 aging poorly. Quick question. Do you know if a r9 390 will choke in the mITX environment of the Elite 130? I am searching google and I get some...

Advice Wanted: ~$1000 Canadian mITX Skylake Build (Now Haswell)

Yes, I had to manually add prices as PCPartPicker seems to mishandle some websites (especially CanadaComputers). 13% sales tax has also been applied to all of the PCPartPicker prices (it's a feature under account settings). I've attached direct links below with prices before taxes...

Advice Wanted: ~$1000 Canadian mITX Skylake Build (Now Haswell)

Thank you all for your comments. I took the advice in this thread and made adjustments as needed. I may be able to get 8GB of DDR3 ram second hand for next to nothing, so it wont be included in this next list. Here is the updated part list so far! Any suitable alternatives for the CM Elite...

Advice Wanted: ~$1000 Canadian mITX Skylake Build (Now Haswell)

Thanks for the help! How about an EVGA Supernova 750w B2. While the wattage is unnessessarly high it has a rebate that makes its only slightly more expensive than the CX500. Luckily, the CM Elite 130 has a PSU bracket so it can accommodate an ATX PSU.

Good to know! Thank you! Also great information, thanks! You are the first person I've heard call the Elite 130 large and ugly, haha. What about the Sugo SG13? That's a tiny package that looks great!

Advice Wanted: ~$1000 Canadian mITX Skylake Build (Now Haswell)

Thank you for the information! The i5-4590 is approximately the same price as the i5-6400 here in Canada when buying new. Thanks for the heads up on the performance disparity. I'll make a new build around the i5-4590 and post it below. Also, I chose that PSU as it is one of the cheapest...

Advice Wanted: ~$1000 Canadian mITX Skylake Build (Now Haswell)

This is a Canadian build. Cheapest i5-6500 is approximately $316.40 after tax. Would I see any benefit in spending $40 more to upgrade to the i5-6500?

Advice Wanted: ~$1000 Canadian mITX Skylake Build (Now Haswell)

Hello! I would love to have my build critiqued before I bite the bullet. I'm going mITX as I live in an apartment in which all space is "shared", so I may be moving the desktop around as needed. Goal: Primarily 1080p/60 gaming at high-ultra settings. Build should be small and quiet...

Would a few extra inches help?

Thank you all for the information! I'll keep searching and try to get something that's a minimum of 42-44", though I keep seeing 50" on this thread. I'll update if I land something!

Would a few extra inches help?

My original title was "Would a few inches help in the bedroom?", but I felt like I was pushing it XD. I did not realize how ineffective the extra resolution in 1080p could be. Thanks for telling me that...It'll probably broaden my search

Would a few extra inches help?

I just bought a Samsung 1080P 37" UN37EH5000FXZC for my bedroom and I am curious if I should go bigger. I typically watch the TV from about 10' away and sometimes it can hard to see text on the screen. I REALLY like this TV and the quality is great! I could pick up a 39" version of this TV...

Which computer companies have you had bad experiences with?

Surprisingly enough, Apple! First Macbook (Early 2008 Refurb) had a laundry list of problems and was a constant PITA for 4 years. Bought a 2012 MacBook Pro 13'' and it was a paperweight for ~1 month as they were working on pushing a fix for overheating/crashing issues. I needed a computer for...

It's already $41 (after $30 rebate). I'd be afraid to spend any less on a PSU as, from what I understand, it's not something you skimp out on. I'll look around though!

    Becoming a Doctor Abroad

It is the standard to get your MD in 4 years in the U.S. and Canada, however it will take a varying amount of time on top of that to complete your residency. Same thing applies to the American University of Antigua.

An Epidemic of Fear: How Panicked Parents Skipping Shots Endangers Us All

Atheists can be so stupid sometimes

I agree that athiesm will have it's douchebags (it already does) if it goes mainstream, but what is a better alternative? Right now athiests are an extremely demonized minority where, in religious communities, people are too scared (sometimes with very justifiable fears) to come out and...

Atheists can be so stupid sometimes

There is nothing wrong with an atheistic community forming. In fact, I think it can do a world of good. In the least it would act as a support system for those who don't believe in a god. Hell, one of the people I have come very close to has had his life threatened because of his lack of belief...

People that drive at dusk while it's raining without their headlights on piss me off

I agree with Alkemyst. Driving with your hazard lights on will only confuse other drivers. I live in a place where 0 or close-to-0 visibility conditions are commonplace and I have never seen anybody driving with their hazard lights on (with the exception of processions). You might be good...
