Question Old HTPC 3D score is 90, need a cheap Pcie for AO

Never heard of not having the 6 pin connector hooked up hurting anything, the GPU just wouldn't work. I'd guess there was something else wrong with that card that hosed the system.

What wattage of PSU I need

There's nothing to be confused about. It doesn't hurt a thing to get a higher wattage PS than you technically need. What you don't want to do is get the bare minimum.

Finished Metro: Exodus and enjoyed it, so now I'm giving Metro: Last Light Redux another play. It's still a really nice looking game.

Question Laptop Throttling

I didn't watch the video, but I'm assuming that even if you set the laptop for "Max Performance" while on battery power in the Power Setup it's still slow? And nothing in the BIOS that you can see?

Any experience with PDR: Paintless Dent repair?

I've had great luck on the two times I had PDR done. Of course it's only as good as the guy/gal doing it, if you don't know what you're doing you can make it worse.

What wattage of PSU I need

Yes, a Quality PSU. I prefer Seasonic, but that's just me. The MSI 1050 TI I looked at required a 300W PSU, but I would rather get something a bit beefier in case you want to upgrade at some point. 500-550W seems like a good starting point. Not the best PSU by a long shot from Seasonic, but...

Chrome Desktop I don't use it, so I can't say for sure if it will do exactly what you want. Just throwing it out there.

Perhaps a Geforce GT 1030? Small card with very low power requirements. Just make sure you get the GDDR5 version and not the DDR4 version, it's much slower.

What is a good mobo for a raid1 setup.

Thanks for the reply. I was bored earlier so I did some more looking and went ahead and already installed Autumn Aurora. Much better (in most cases) than the vanilla. I just wanted some actual input from someone who's played.

Check and re-seat all your power cables and unplug everything from the mainboard except the GPU (HDDs, optical disks, add on cards, keyboard, mouse etc). See if it boots then. If not, pull the GPU as well. Even though you won't get video you should still be able to see any changes. If it's...

Sink won't drain, think it's vent related

Question How often should I replace CPU thermal paste on laptop?

Never, unless you believe it's the culprit of high temps that are impacting the laptop (and usually that's got more to do with fans collecting dust). If it ain't broke don't fix it.
