which PSU?

thanks, I got the cosair. Someone said that Jonnyguru said there was a problem with the 600 OCZs. Anyway I think I would rather stay with the single 12v rail.

LCD buying advice

I just bought the Acer 2051 and it is great and for the reasons you just listed. The 22 inch screens are TN, this is PMVA. I can't comment too much on the text difference but mine is clear and you can always change the size of the text. I love mine.

I can't see why the glossy screen would be problem. I don't see anything in it I don't want to. Unless you tilt it up into a light you will love this monitor for gaming, no ghosting.

DVI Cable

I just bought a new LCD monitor that came with a DVI cable. There are only pins on either side of the connection. The other DVI Cable that I ordered for something else has pins all the way across. Could someone please explain the difference and would I be better to use the other one? thanks

So as long as I use cables that aren't DVI and HDMI they don't care? AVS forum is rather huge, do you know where that thread is because they seem to say that such discussions aren't allowed?

Last night I set the VCR to record after I went to bed. The VCR is connected with just RCA jacks and I have done this many times. The only difference is that I had hooked up a DVI cable last week which was a waste of time because the HD tv's sound connection for it is digital and the cable...

20'' LCD recomendations

I'll be the first to admit, he doesn't need to spend a lot for what he wants, but the lower the pixel pitch will mean the sharper the text. Right? You can always enlarge the text. But I haven't had the 19 and 22 inch to compare. Also, be sure to enable the clear text option in the display menu.

Which one of these monitors?

This is viewsonic's value line, it only has a one year warranty which is a deal breaker for me. It is 22inch so it is a TN screen. Funny that it doesn't give the pixel count.

My friend just built a new system based on the Abit KN8 Ultra. He has an Antec PSU and a Maxtor sata2 HD. Booted up first time and installed Windows XP no problem. Turned it off went to bed. Next morning it wouldn't boot into Windows and seemed to get worse. After trying a host of things...

I'm I going to be able to use my system with directx 10 and vista? It almost sounds like you will be missing out on a lot of features if you don't have certain vid cards. Can anyone explain what the new directx and vista will need to use properly? thanks

In notice under accounts that under "mail" my account is listed by itself. when I click "all" there are 4 other accounts listed that I don't recognize at all. Is this normal? Or is it spyware?

I update nforce 4 drivers but removed their ide driver and just let the window's driver load. Now it boots pretty much normal although I think I need a new cable since it won't let me set it above ultra33, but I can fix that. What is wrong with nvidia that they can't make a descent ide driver?

I noticed that the setting for this drive was defaulted at dma3 ultra33. I check the "let bios determine it" and it automatically set it to dma5 ultra100, my highest setting. Now it boots faster though not as fast as when just my sata is hooked up but I guess I will live with it for now.

Here is the setup, my sata is my boot drive, windows is on it. My old drive is ata, it is the only drive on that ribbon. Then my secondary ribbon is for my cd drives. Remember, it worked fine until I removed windows from my old disk.

it is a maxtor hd which has been formatted so there is nothing on it. my other drive is a wd sata drive. I am wondering if I need to change the jumper from master to slave. would that make any difference?

All of the sudden it takes a long time for my windows to load. With this system boot time was just a few seconds, then one day once it got to the blue screen it would take several seconds and then when it gets to the desktop another several seconds, well over a minute from the time you turn on...

refresh rates

I have windows set to show what I can run, I just ran aquamark and got my best yet. I changed it from 60mhz to 75 (I could go to 85) Is it good to turn v-sync on? I never knew what that did.
