September 11th to be precise, says Mr. Spock. :) I have not had any problems with my K7VME, it performs well, which makes two Soyo boards with no problems so far. I would say that motherboards are both critical and fragile. Note my experience of the past 5 years: - 4 bad motherboards...

The actual prices on good DVD-Rs and DVD+Rs at NewEgg at the moment are far lower than most everything in this thread. Just do a search in this Hot Deals Forum for "DVD" and you'll see what I mean.

If the Duron 800 won't run on it, then rather than buy a Duron 1600 at Newegg for $44, I might as well use my Dragon+ in that PC, and use the K7VME in my PC and get a Barton 2500+ for $80 at Newegg. That would (I assume) cut down the time on some of the AVI-to-MPEG2 encodes that I sometimes do.

I was just thinking that maybe Soyo was thinking in terms of Default Core Voltage, but they are all over the place: Duron 800 (200Mhz FSB, Spitfire Core) - 1.6V Duron 1300 (200Mhz FSB, Morgan Core) - 1.75V Duron 1400 (266Mhz FSB, Applebred Core) - 1.5V

Actually, I'm waiting for the memory for the MB to be delivered, which will be another couple of days. I was just hoping someone might have had some experience with this, so that if it was definitely not going to work, I could save waiting several days more for a new CPU to arrive by ordering...

PC hangs, and MB's buzzer sounds continuously

The capacitors don't look abnormal (no bulging). And I don't think that they would then work if the PC is rapped.

I just tried looking at the MB while it was having the problem (ie running it without the case sides) and the CPU fan is turning while the PC was hanging, so that is not the problem (although it was a good thought!). I'll try running the tower on the side and will check the MB screws.

Router w/ Dialup as a backup ??

At Practically Networked, I don't see any "ICS solutions" area and in all the ICS setup areas, they all state that for XP (and 2k), the ICS server must be 192.168.0.1 . If you see something else, please give a specific link. PS Wingate no longer exists as of two weeks ago, by the way.

Thanks XBoxLPU, that is a very good solution. Everything works except for POP3 (using Forte Agent for email), but I've emailed AnalogX about that.

Thanks, but the problem with using WinXP's Internet Connection Sharing is that it requires the source of the Internet to be 192.168.0.1 and the router uses the same paradigm, ie it requires the router itself to be 192.168.0.1 .
