Is this video card any good?

I grabbed a Powercolor 5450 for $10 MIR a few months ago. I love it... has HDMI output and is fanless/low profile. For $10, it's a great spare! But looking at its specs, I would not expect it to be able to run any games smoothly unless they were made more than a decade ago.

Help Undervolt MSI R9 270

MSI afterburner works for both of my 7870s. It definitely works (unlike some other utilities) since my temps are significantly lower while mining.

GeForce GTX 750 ti vs Radeon R9 270

270 is hands down the faster card. If it was 265 vs 750Ti it might be more debatable, but the 265 should also still come out on top as far as performance is concerned. 270 is also an amazing overclocker, and you can easily get it up to 270X speeds which would absolutely blow away any 750Ti.

Best Video Card For i3 530

I honestly would not recommend a whole system upgrade since you're not even gaming at 1080p resolution. For $200 you could upgrade your CPU to an i5 or i7 and video card to GTX 750Ti or equivalent which would even be able to handle 1080p should you choose to upgrade to that resolution anytime soon.

What are the prices of the card options that are available to you? I would say just get a GTX 750 Ti and get it over with. No PSU upgrade needed. It might be a little too much for your CPU, but that leaves you with the option to upgrade to an i5 or i7 without having to upgrade the GPU again.

A radeon 270 would be an ideal match for it. But, I think a 7850 for only $110 after MIR is the best bang for the buck at the moment. A 270 is not a very significant step up in performance, but it is a pretty significant step up in price. About 40% price increase for only a 10-15% performance...

AMD R7 265 Confusion

How does this $80 AMD stack up against a Core i3 540?

I had a 512mb HD4870 with my i5 3570k. I played d3 with it for like a day. It wasn't too bad. I was able to run maxed out most of the time with some fps dips, usually down to the 30s. An i3 would be comparable in performance. You really shouldn't go down any lower than a pentium though if...

HD 7870 GHz edition good for hardcore 1080p gaming?

Please recommend upgrade

It's only on nvidia cards, just like shadowplay. AMD cards do not have physx. Ditch the 460 and don't look back. It's a great upgrade even though you had to sacrifice physx for it.

Is the radeon 7850 too much for core i3 3250?

I think a 7850 is a perfect match for an Ivy i3. Most games run on 2 main threads anyway, so 3.5GHz is going to be more than enough for those. The ones that use more often do not put a whole lot of stress on the other 2 cores so it's still really tough to fine a game in which there is anywhere...

AMD 185 Opteron

Yeah going from 2.6 to 3GHz is pretty small but for an Opteron 165 coming from 1.8 to 2.8 or 3 is pretty huge. Back in the day, OCing used to mean a lot more than it does now. A 400MHz OC is measly for today's standards while back in the day it actually made a pretty big difference.

Questions about overclocking

If you are overclocking, you will eventually want to increase the voltage, rather than decrease it. You can always try the motherboard's auto OC if you know nothing about OCing. However, you will almost always get better results with a manual OC (lower temps and higher OC frequency).

First Time OC (i7-4770k)

I am using an Asus Z87-A motherboard for the 4770k :$ When I used the fast OC feature of the motherboard (in Windows) I believe it took it up to 4.1GHz and 1.25vcore. Manually OCing the CPU, the best I was able to get (for now) was 4.2GHz on 1.2vcore with 3.9GHz uncore.

Help picking GPU?

A 750Ti would be able to max out those games at 1080p. But probably not at 1440p. I'd get at least a GTX 760 for 1440p.

As long as it stays on, I think it's fine... Most of those are just for looks anyway. Check your motherboard temps, if anything is out of the ordinary then RMA it. If not, then just stick with it.

First Time OC (i7-4770k)

I have my 4770k on manual voltage with 1.2 vcore. Anything lower than that, and it is unstable. So I'd say you're right about on target. Some (better) chips might be able to do 4.2 with 1.15v or less, but I wouldn't count on it in most cases.

Yep, I got one too. It was the single fan aka the cheapest model they make? I am actually surprised by how well the card runs, overclocks, and still stays cool and silent even though it only has 1 fan. I also received the rebate check promptly. But I kind of wish I had the OP one instead...

MSI R9 270 $179 AC at Newegg

I have an MSI 7870. For me, it's at 70% that the rattling starts and if I turn it up any higher it starts getting really loud. Luckily, I was able to undervolt the card via afterburner so there is no need to ever run it past 60% fan speed, even with another card mining right below it.

Out of all the GPUs you listed in the OP, I would go with the radeon 240. It's actually a decent but very low end entry level gaming card. If you can, try to get the one with GDDR5 RAM and not the one with DDR3 RAM. But damn those Canadian prices are seriously over-inflated! No wonder I...

I would absolutely agree that a 2GB 7850 at only $110 is a great choice. It's only about 15-20% slower than a 270x but it's about 40% cheaper. If it was between an FX 6300 and a Haswell i3, I would probably opt for the Haswell i3. That way you can always sell it and upgrade to an i5 or i7...

9800GT Still viable for gaming?

9800GT is still good for DX9 and perhaps DX10 games such as Diablo 3, but any more recent demanding titles such as BF3, BF4, Titanfall, etc, will greatly struggle and also possibly look a lot worse due to the lack of DX11 support. I wouldn't really recommend a $150 Radeon 265 at this point...

Best AMD chip for playing games

Unless you are on a tight budget or tight power limitations, there is no reason to get the A10 7850k over an FX 8350. A10 7850k is perfectly capable of running most games smoothly on the integrated GPU, so if that's what you're looking for then go for it. But if you want the best...

I think you might be better off keeping the HDD and parting out the rest. The most valuable parts are going to be CPU/mobo and RAM. You might as well keep the second 560 since they aren't worth a whole lot.
