Which is the better processor for a socket 939 system?

Hi Guys, I'm working with an asus A8N-SLI premium board and just recently bought an opteron 165, 1.8ghz (like 3 days ago); for 151 bucks off of newegg (link). I saw this X2 4200+ 2.2ghz processor just go on for 122.50 though (link) The Opteron is 400mhz slower, but has a bigger L2...

Question about HDMI cables/switch for my home theater

My room is 12'x13' so I don't think I need the cables to be longer than 10'... should I just go with the cheapest ones then (i think that's the 28AWG)? Also do you have a recommendation for the HDMI switch box thing? Also do I want the Ferrite cores and/or the net jackets? Thanks in advance :D

Hey guys, I was looking to do a few things with some cables from monoprice.com (I was recommended to that site as a much better alternative to buying monster cable), but I don't know what to buy, please advise: 1. I'd like to hook up my DVD player which has HDMI out to my Samsung 50" DLP HDTV...

Oh alright hahaha that's a much simpler solution :) Okay final question is, what "effect" setting do I leave it on? Or do I change it aroudn at all?

So basically I would use analog (use the direct sound) for my games, then use the cable that you have up there for my digital for DVDs?

Lol that reminds me of a review I read where someone pissed off his deaf neighbor with his system. She couldn't hear it... but it shook all the pictures off of her wall ROFL XD Also anyone have ideas on where I should be getting my cables?

What is DAC? Sorry I'm pretty new to all this stuff. For the 1/8" mini jack RCA cable.. do I get that from Radioshack? Is there a good online vendor where I can get both digital coaxial and a 1/8" thing? Sorry if you guys have to hold my hand through this, I just don't want to buy the wrong...

I've been having some issues with my Motorola PCI wireless card (yes I spose this is what I get for buying a 10$ adapter). My friend said I should try using another company's drivers, since Motorola's suck. How do I go about doing this, and does anyone have recommendations for good ones...

Alrighty, I determined it was a problem with either the PCI-E slot or a short somewhere on the board.. got a new board so it's all good :)

Yes, I did plug in the 4 pin AUX to the mobo. The female voice hasn't said anything about VGA test failiing, and the fan on the GPU does spin up. I'm connecting with DVI, and I have used the monitor on old rig and it seemed to work fine on that (though it was VGA not DVI). Once I plug in my...

Hehe, okay I believe I know how to reset my BIOS (remove the battery and change the CMOS jumper from 1-2 to 2-3 for about 10 seconds). I do have a spare CRT monitor.. no extra vid card though which would be greatly helpful, all my friends still have AGP cards. Maybe its the cable though.. will...

Yes I can see the selector card there with the arrows pointing to where the cards should go. Also, I dont get any kind of video dispaly, so I can't enter the BIOS and work with stuff at all... I don't know what to do :(

OKay I went home and tried a coupleof things:I did plug in the dvd drive with my win XP cd inside, and the light does come on for a second or so, but then it turns off and never comes back on. I guess this is a sign that the system is not booting up. Also i did read the installation guide, and...

When I reset the CMOS jumper, shoudl I remove the battery too, and unplug the psu? Or am I actually supposed to boot with the CMOS jumper in the reset position? and ill try reseating the card again too.

I dont think I was paying attention to the CD/DVD light.. (where is that light by the way? is it on the mobo? or do you mean on the front panel?) I had previously been trying to boot without it, but I can definitely try plugging it in again to see what happnes

I just get nothing on my monitor with everything assembled. I believe my board doesn't give POST beeps... it does POST female voice hehe. The fans all spin up, all case fans, cpu fan, mobo fan and vid card fan... I'm actually not sure about the HDDs, I ended up just trying to boot without them...
