I'm building my new PC and am in the process of assembling all the components. I'm a little confused about the reset switch. It...
Thanks.
I'm just nervous about buying the mobo and buying the wrong thing. Suddenly finding out when I install it that it was Type A when I needed Type B and such.....
Hello all. I"m building my first PC and am ordering just a few pieces at a time. I just received my new Thermaltake Tsunami case and my 500W Ultra X-Connect PSU (very nice). So I now have the case and PSU. I'm now ready to purchase the mobo, CPU, ram and video. This PC will be built for...
Would home video editing be considering multi-tasking? I know it's stressful on the system resources but is it actually doing multiple things at once? I'm wondering if I can save a little $$ on a CPU by opting not to get the dual core.
Considering I'm about to spend $3K on components to build my own, I'm a little nervous after reading this thread. How exactly would one "fry" his mobo other than doing something totally stupid? Don't the PSUs and Mobos come with instructions?
Hello all. Today is the day. I will start puchasing the components. I will be building (hopefully) a high end machine that will be used for business, database and web development, and home video editing. It's important that this machine has plenty of juice and video power.
What do you...
Well.....I am looking for lots of muscle too. I plan on doing a lot of video editing. Sorry - I should have mentioned that. Even though it won't be a "gaming" machine, it will need to be beefy!
Thanks. I'm not sure I'm interested in overclocking (assuming that it's something I would have to do) being a hardware novice that I am. I'd just assume by a super fast processor and be done with it. So DFI is a well respected MB maker huh?..
Crap. Sorry for the dealyed response. I forgot to subscribe to this thread.
Price is secondary to quality. I was hoping to spend about $500 for the MB and CPU but I'm willing to go up if the quality is worth it.
I'll be building a system designed mainly for office and business but I want to be prepared to support 64bit apps and Windows when they come out. Can anyone recommend a good ATX mb and CPU combo? I don't want a entry level mb but I don't necessarily need buy top of the line either. I'm...
So I'm building my first PC. I've got the case and PSU picked out. I guess the next logical piece to select is the motherboard and CPU. Right??
If so....what should I look for? All I know at this point is I want a ATX style and a powerful processor. I see that AMD is popular on here and...
I'l be buying a case and a PSU soon and I'm seeing some of the more expensive PSUs stating they're "SATA ready". Is this some new technology coming out and will I need it?
Thanks
Hey guys.
It's either going to be the Antec Sonta II or this:
ThermalTake Tsunami
I think I just might buy the Tsunami and insert a good PSU into it. Whatcha think?
It says that it will take ATX or MATX motherboards. Is this OK and it is standard?
Thanks!
I'll probably start my shopping process today. Antec looks good but I wish they were a little more stylish. If I'm going to do this, I'd love to have a real stylish techie looking case.
Hello all. This is my first post.
My old faithful Dell Win2k machine I bought in April 2001 finally has died. I've decided to build my own PC from scratch and in the meantime, I'll be using my laptop. I'm not a hardware techie (I'm a programmer) so I imagine I'll have a lot of question...
