Looking for a QUIET Power Supply

I read some psu reviews and decided on Antec true 380. It is quiet and the review that I read said that it would handle a lot more than it was rated at. Just thought I would throw that in.

Thanks for the help, the new machine is **fast**

Very Good. I got the same mobo with a p4 2.4b. It also is very stable. If the price of the proc. that you are using drops a lot I might get one. Good to know that it will handle it ok. In the mean time it is just a little oc'd (HEE HEE).

Building a new pc

I got a P4 2.4b 533 with a Gigabyte 8pe667 ultra, antec true 380 psu, samsung 512 pc 2700 mem, sb live, Win xp pro (must have), Abit Siluro MX-8x 64m video. It is rock solid and a easy oc to 2.7g with stock hsf. Xp took a little getting use to. So did the video card after updating the latest...

Should I install Windows XP, or stick with 2K?

I got XP Pro. and am very happy with it. It took a little getting use to since I had win 98 before. I wouldn't even consider anything else. I think the post above are a bunch of Win 2K die hards.

Gigabyte AC97 on-board sound

I have a Gigabyte 8pe667 ultra. The onboard sound is crappy also. I installed a SB LIVE Value. System is great now. I still would buy this mobo anyways.

Hello, Here is a different twist. I just put together a Gigabyte 8pe667 ultra, p4 2.4g and Samsung 512 pc 2700, Abit Siluro mx-8x and wd 80g special edition HDD. It is not the lastest nor the greatest but it was easy to put together and all components works perfect together. It clocks to 2.7g...

XP PRO WON'T SHUT DOWN AND KEEPS RESTARTING

Hey, My Gigabyte 8pe667 ultra did the same thing. To get to shut down I went into the bios and reloaded defaults. That did the trick. I don't know the underlying factors however it is no longer restarting on shut down. Good luck.

need help with system backup on win xp pro...

Well, I figured out that I needed to format the cd-r. Now it is copying the files to it. If any of you know a better way to back up for a crash restore please let me know. Thanks. Dan

Hi, I have been trying to backup system files via Win Xp's backup utiltity using the ASR tab. I am trying to copy it to a Samsung 348 DVD Rom/CDRW. When I do this I get (D:\Backup.bkf) The backup file name could not be used. The cdrw seems to be fine coping disc when using Roxio Easy CD Creator...

1.6A + Gigabyte 8PE667 Ultra = ?

I got the 8pe667 Ultra about 3 weeks ago. I have the 2.4g. I can change the fsb to 150 and hit 2.7g with the stock hsf no problem. I have samsug 2700 mem. i like this board. I am running win xp pro, not one single problem from this mobo. A couple of hints. Stay with the chipset drivers that...

Where to go from here?

Hi all, I got a Gigabyte 8667pe ultra with a p4 2.4b 533. In the bios it has frequency 133 so I moved it up to 150. When i boot up mem is 375 and cpu is 2.7G that is with stock hsf. All voltages are at default. It hangs at 160. I have run a few games at 150 seems stable enough. Can't tell the...

Supermicro 750a question

FOP32-1. Should the fan blow or suck?

It should blow. Sucking sucks! My Cel 450a locks up if it sucks. It works fine it it blows. Sucking never hits the entire heat sink. Seems to miss the middle where it is needed the most. However if it blows it is forced to cover the entire sink. Just my thoughts. Dan

Enermax 451p-ve?

Does anyone know why it is only aproved to altlon 1gig. Is anyone using this power supply 1.2g and/or higher. I am looking for a power supply upgrade. Any recomendations? I looked at the Sparkle 400 watt supply. It doesn't even show having a ball bearing fan. Thanks Dan
