Analog Video conversion to Digital

We use Studio 9 as a desktop standard for non broadcast desktop editing. Several dozen systems use the Pinnicle AV/DV deluxe for analog to digital ingest. As mentioned before, get at least a gig of RAM and a separate media drive. George

PLEASE HELP: Pinnacle Studio TV/Pro, older vs new

The old PCTV box was a windows 98 product and certainly does not have NT/XP drivers. The current PCTV cards are under $80 and work quite well. Choose the internal if you have the PCI room. George

In answer to question #3. Yes, the Nextvision processor will feed your monitor. However, if you ever plan on importing video into your pc, it will not do that. This is a SD (standard definition) only switcher/processor. It may also inhibit some high end game playing by passing your VGA or DVI...

Then if your content is not HD and you have no intention of HD in the future, any VGA video card with DVI out should work for SD material. GT

Burning videos on dvd

If you are running Nerovision express the MPEG2 DVD encoder is not included. Go to nero.com and purchase the encoder. That is what you are lacking. Also, read the users guide on how to acquire video and how to burn disks, format,etc. GT

Need help with purchasing an LCD

Coming from the broadcast graphics world, picture quality and clarity are more important than response time. I think you need to decide which is more important. Gaming or graphics. If it is gaming, then look for the specs as compared to picture quality. GT

Need help with purchasing an LCD

I would suggest the Dell or Samsung LCD's (same thing). More important than response times are pitch and contrast ratios. This is really analog when you get down to it and is quite subjective. As a matter of fact I recently used the Hyundai's as CAD monitors and was pleased with the results...

New build, which path to take?

I guess I'm in the same boat, but willing to spend a bit more money. My choice so far is the X2 4200 on a Asus A8N SLI Premium with 2G of OCE RAM (need some help here with 2 X1 sticks. Titanium too expensive). Two NEC ND 3540A's, three/or four 250G Baracudas and Matrox Parhelia APVe video card...

H264 video samples ?

I'm playing the demos now and I am not impressed for HDTVIP. Maybe on a computer monitor but not on a full >32" display. This is only 720P, no wonder you don't see 1080I or p. GT

Just remember that when using a pc or ps3 with your new HDTV that a static display will burn in over time. Awful expensive to replace those HD monitors. It will take time, but we have replaced HD monitors at kisoks and instore pc connected displays that have burnt in. Not anywhere as often in...

Dual Monitor Video Playback

With a Nvidia Quadro FX3400 I pull the window over both monitors for either video playback (any program) or edit in Photoshop. I didn't know it was a problem in XP pro. GT

Fishkill and Poughkeepsie engineering provide fab support to AMD. Same basic wafer yield problems. (Actually working on much smaller than 45nm, but just developing technology)

I looked for a link and couldn't find one. I remember in years past that such tables were on their site. The general marketing is Nvidia for gamers (3d), Matrox for graphics professionals (2d). What can I say. Matrox is the standard for the graphics industry that I am familiar with. YRMV...lol...
