New PC Time - or upgrade?

Mainly games like Crysis, cod 4, and suprisingly oblivion at a few points :P Its actually a 1920x1080 Dell lol, can't complain though, I got it for $360 NZ new ($200 US) and I got a $200NZ (~$130US) 3-in-1 printer free. The 1gb 4870 is about $300 afaik

Leadtek 8800GT ZL cooling queries

Hey blazer, Just recently I bought the Leadtek 8800GT ZL video card. The card idles at about 45C and is between 55 - 59C at full load, it is very cool and quiet. Most websites don't mention that it is mildly overclocked so don't forget about that when looking at the price. The card scores...

Just bought a Samsung 226BW and am very unimpressed

I've just started getting another issue which I'm sure is either the monitor or video card. I get a flashing yellow/orange line on one of the sides of the monitor when using the maximum resolution. Tried 2 games so far and it happens in both - its driving me nuts.

Just bought a Samsung 226BW and am very unimpressed

It was definately a 226bw, it was the main reason I went to the cafe. It did seem to have better viewing angles as none of the screen brightened/darkened while looking at it straight on while on this one the bottom is a bit brighter and the top is a bit darker when looking at it straight on...

Just bought a Samsung 226BW and am very unimpressed

I tried the magic bright setting on internet, it fixed the brightness but completely and utterly killed every single colour - it basically just put the brightness on 10. I tried the C profile and it still looks like ass.

Here in New Zealand there really isn't a return policy unless the product is faulty (which they can just say since these things may be 'minor' to them). I can however pay a 10% restocking fee which I think is unfair.

How are Palit video cards these days?

I didn't know that.. Gainward had pretty good quality cards... I made this thread because I was buying either the Palit 8800GT with the aftermarket cooler for $400 or the XFX Alpha Dog 8800GT for $440. Wanted the XFX because of company of heroes but it isn't worth $40 + it only has a stock...

I see, well, I'm not too fussed about blacks. Would you reccomend viewsonic or samsung considering their price difference? (in New Zealand I can get a Viewsonic VA2226W for $390 or a 226BW for $490)

According to reviews the 5xxx through to 7xxx series ATI was ahead, then the 8800s came and they seem to be about even now. Even though most reviews seem to point out that they look similar, in my opinion ATI cards still produce MUCH better image quality. I've got a 9600XT in my secondary PC...

How does the E4500 compare to the E6550?

I know its slower but by how much and is it worth paying more for the E6550? Here In New Zealand I can either get a E4500 for ~$180 or a E6550 for ~$270.

[RESOLVED] 115 C on MSI 7800GTX? Bad?

same thing happened to my 6800GS, 50C idle, 100 - 105C on load, opened the card up, removed dust, temperatures now 40 - 45 C idle 70C load

Problem with ram frequency.

I've already done this but as I've already mentioned, I put the timing mode on manual but I can't find the option to change the frequency.
