About 2 weeks ago, I spilled my a drink on my PC, ruined my previous motherboard and CPU. I assumed the CPU was dead because I tried it in a new motherboard (My current DFI...
It's very small amount of Arctic Silver 5, thin as, if not thinner, than a hair and long as about half of a grain of rice. I'm not really sure how it got there.. So, Is it a danger to my CPU?
Thanks in advance.
Kepp in mind that I am working with an assumed dead CPU and getting ready to get it replaced. See this thread http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview...atid=27&threadid=1846840&enterthread=y
Alright, Well I was taking the HSF off my CPU (AMD 3200+ 939) and I noticed that it was stuck on...
Alright, I tried booting on a piece of cardboard. No go. Same deal, boots for a second. While was at it, I installed the rest of the standoffs into my case.
And also, I didn't see any signs of the drink under CPU or socket at all.
Hmm, I'll check if any standoffs are touching or not soon. If some standoffs ARE touching the motherboard in places besides the screw holes, would it damage my system?
I have about 4-5 brass standoffs installed. I have the remaining ones uninstalled as I misplaced them when I was installing the new mobo. I found them later on, though. Should I install the remaining ones? Also, my front panel won't function, I might have put the wires in incorrectly but I'm not...
Hmm, well the the thing that gets me is that the PC used to stay on for 10-15 seconds and then went down to booting for a split second. When it stayed on for 10-15 seconds, I wouldn't get a picture and my monitor doesn't show any activity and stays on the "stand by" orange LED. Now, with my new...
Here's my case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811147001
I had my PC laying on it's side at the time. The drink went through the vent on the window.
Well, three days ago, I spilled my drink on my PC. It got through one of the fan vents and landed right on the motherboard, right near the CPU. The PC was ON and RUNNING at the time the drink got on it. It shut off about 5 seconds after the drink made contact.
It looked like it was only a...
Alright, ill check some of the Truepower psu on newegg. Oh and before i go and buy a new psu, do you think that updating my bios would do the trick? Do you NEED a floppy to do that? Is there anyother way to update my BIOS? Since i cant really find any floppys anywhere...guess ill get some off...
Ok, ill go check the voltages in a second. And it was a fresh build, only card ive used in this system besides the x850xt is a 9200 se which i put in after i tried out the x850xt, but i didnt install the drivers for the 9200 at any point.
Alright, thanks. Sounds like its a great psu from the reviews. So you guys are sure its my power that causing this? I dont wanna have to go and buy a new psu and see little to no diffence..even though my psu needs a change anyway (I was gonna get guild wars, but if a new power supply would fix...
Ah, i know what you're talking about. ive seen it on other psu's but mine didnt have one...So you think getting a new psu will do the trick?
And also, you're talking about the one that goes into the same slot as the 20pin plug right? Thanks guys.
When i built my comp, my mobo suggested i use a 24 pin psu, but my case came with a 20 pin one. The mobo manual says i can use a 20 pin one but its not reccomended. its a generic rosewill 400 watt psu. Dont think its over heating..since the card has an artic cooling hsf and its generally at...
