Locking my computer

I want to prevent my son from going on the computer without my permission. At first I used windows built in system but he would startup in safe mode to bypass it. Is their some program that will function similarly to windows locking system but cannot be bypassed? Thank you.

College laptop

I'd rather spend my time learning a more powerful, more secure, and quicker OS. I'm not sure how to go about choosing a used laptop, how would you know it will not break down in a month?

I tried making a dell and for the same specs it will cost me $100+ more. I don't want to learn a new OS and even if I did it would not mac, it would be Linux.

I'm not sure... If I get the same specs but with the WXGA+ I end up spending $150+ more, smaller battery, and dimension wise, a smaller screen. Do you think it is worth it?

yes I uninstalled. I started having the problem with an old version of Omegas ATI drivers, then I updated to cat 6.9. none worked. I dont know what dx games are

Update: I just ran a prime95 cpu stress test, it passed. I updated my drivers, I still have the problem.

during ANY game my computer screen turns black and searches for audio then digital then audio then digital... The only way to solve it is to turn off my computer. This problem happens for lower end games like CS 1.6. I thought it might be heat so I removed a side of my computer and tried it...

Speaker makes clicking sounds

About every 5 seconds my computer makes the same sound as if I was opening a hyperlink. The sounds are not caused by the speakers because I have tried 2 different ones. Also the clicks are not regular, they can happen twice in a row or it can be silent for a min. On a possibly related issue...

I think I might follow nocrapman's advice, but I would not want to go in blind... can you direct me to a good OC guide? and I know what I picked out cant be the best bang for the buck, what would you change? I am going to change to the x1800xt 512, I guess I just did not reseach video cards...

Hmmmmm... I might consider it... Overclocking just does not seem to be worth taking the risk of burning up $300. What about the other things? Do you have any recommendations on a psu?
