    Errr, 7200RPM vs. 5400RPM in battery life isn't that different. It'll only take a few minutes of your battery life. IMO, I'd go with Hitachi.     Lenovo/IBM also have fingerprint readers on some of their models. I think synoptics makes them but I cannot really link you to anything. You might find it on their website however.

    the T60 is pretty new. would anything new come from IBM in the coming months? i doubt it. core duo is here to stay until that mobile chip that's based on conroe comes out. you can look for the release date on that as that should last you awhile as it's 64bit and has i believe 4MB of cache.

    It boots alot faster. As for noise, yes, I did notice it was louder. during seek/read times, it was about the same if not just a little louder. During idle, it is slightly louder than my previous drive. From two feet away, you cannot hear it idling.
