    ram is clearly your bottleneck....i would first get ONLY extra ram & see if that solves your problems...i don't think most "art" programs like Painter or Photoshop are cpu-bound (except on oooold computers) unless you use tons of filters & such....a fast hard drive may also improve...

    on the 7900, you do NOT need to "flash the bios" of the card...a program like ATITool (not a typo) or Coolbits will OC it just fine w/ whatever BIOS it has...also i do NOT recommend OCing the memory AT ALL...the 7900 has a potentially fatal flaw somewhere within that doesnt like you to fudge w/...
