How will I know if the mobo is detecting the San Diego or not? Will it just not boot properly, or will it run at lower performance (ie 512 L2 Cache).

I would suggest changing your boot order to boot from your windows cd. Then run the repair option from the cd.

To tell you the truth, I bet the pc would be good for surfing if my sister hasnt loaded it pure spyware lol. I guess a clean install of the OS would boost the speed a bit. What OS should I use, windows xp or 2000? Im leaning towards one of those 2 NT based OS.

Damn, I really didnt want to upgrade the mobo, as I dont have much $$ at the moment. However, Linux wouldnt be practical, because my parents will be using this PC, not me. I doub't they'll ever leave windoze.

My new PC should be ready on tuesday, so I was wondering, how do you guys determine if a PC is running well. For example, how can I tell if my memory is in dual channel mode, the temperature my CPU is at, the speed of my RAM, video card clock etc... Is there a special software that shows this...
