how is the 7200.7 seagate line?

does anyone happen to know the revisions from 7200.7 to 7200.8 which makes the 7200.8 so much more highly recommended on these boards? Or is it just the fact that that line supports high capacity hds?

The P180 seems to be adored here and I am curious why... Does anyone have any comparisons or benchmarks (heat, noise, etc.) that they could share? The case seems nice but at my local Fry's i've really grown to like the silverstone tj06 (windtunnel, look, sturdiness) Any feedback?

More or less, would you pay the extra $122 for the 4400 ($600) as opposed to the 4200 ($478)? From what I understand the only difference between the chips is that the 4400 has a 1 mg cache on each core in comparison to the 512 kb per core on the 4200. Would that 1 mg per core be worth the...

thanks duvie for clearing that up anyway, paying 250ish more dollars for a 4400 when there is roughly only a 15% increase seems to be steering me toward the 3800. Will the 4400 with the additional 1mb cache prove to provide considerabley more performance in the near future?

would you say performance wise that the 3800 and the 4400 are fairly comparable at stock speeds even with the 1mb cache on the 4400? with regard to ocing, they should both reach a similar 2.4?
