Very weird problem

I'm not running the default shell on any of my computers and I don't really want to hop through hoops to test...but I believe right clicking on the desktop, Arrange Icons, check show icons on desktop, and you should get them all to display again.

It's an HIS, which I had OC'd to speeds covered under the warranty. My proc was running at 2.7 for a few weeks, which may have led to codec/driver corruption. Or it might be residual traces of the virus that pwned my system a month ago. I purged the ATi drivers and installed the latest...

video issues

All my video players work partially with some tweaking and disabling of video accelleration...but I still get the video problems in the screenshot in WMP too. If I could get these files to play properly in any player I'd be happy enough, but the video screws up no matter what I try.

Well, something broke on my computer today. Not sure if it was my X700 or a collection of drivers. Video playback won't work at full acceleration anymore. I have to scale it back to 3 ticks from the left to get any playback at all, and even then some files are still messed up...

You should push the HT multi down to x4... standard HT is 1GHz, running the board above that may cause stability issues. For your ram, I'd only push up the voltage if once you start going above the stock speeds, or trying to get tighter timings. Run MemTest86+ and see if any errors crop up after...

Do you wear a watch on your left hand or right hand?

Almost everyone I've met wears their watch on the opposite hand they write with. Mostly because it's more comfortable when writing. I'm left handed and wear it on my right.

whats the hardest part in building your own computer??

The hardest part is definitely the troubleshooting after everything is assembled. Beyond that it's the waiting for weeks on end for parts to arrive because they get shipped to the other side of the country by mistake. And by software, I assume he was referring to getting the OS to work...

the 3 day weekend is almost over

D&D guru, i need your help to build a lvl 6 Cleric.

That's wrong. The improvements to the DD affect the saving throw to prevent an effect. Like when someone casts Colour Spray, everyone in the AoE has to make a Con save against the caster's DD(10+Spell Level+Stat Mod+misc) or suffer the consequences(stun/blind/unconcious) Those specialization...

PS2 Broke and I want to repair it

Yeah, make sure it's plugged in. Beyond that, do you even get the red standby light while it's plugged in? If not, you might be able to just take it apart and replace the power regulator(?) board. As for instructions, there is this amazing tool called Google. Maybe you've heard of it?

IP Address (and Comcast)

It's a 7 day lease period. The IP ranges for ComCast are 24.*.*.*, 68.*.*.* and 69.*.*.*. At the end of the lease period, just powercycle the modem and you'll probably get a new IP. There is no guarantee though, as I see some customers who have the same IP address for months.

New computer, new problem...

My advice may not be worth much, but I'd try to install in non-raid with each drive next, to make absolutely sure it's the RAID that's causing the problems. I'm mostly a n00b when it comes to RAID though, so I don't know if doing this could help.

my comp says "No Hi-speed usb hubs installed on this computer"

I'd say check your device manager. Odds are you don't have USB2.0 drivers installed. My A8N-E doesn't recognize USB2.0 devices until I upgrade to SP1+, but if I install the rest of the drivers for the board before then, then USB2.0 will not recognize at all. But I could just be venting...

That's true, but Canadians on a whole are a lot kinder and easier to deal with. I regret every single day I have to deal with ComCast's Baltimore billing issues, as they are some of the rudest people when they have billing mistakes, or past due balances.

But usually they are right. Unless you run into someone who has already had dozens of irate calls that day, and doesn't feel like dealing with it anymore. Just find out the exact limits of what you can say/do to customers, and get as close to them as you can. Call Centre work sucks in...

how does comcast stay in business?

Cable TV pricing is not regulated along each comcast market, which is why the pricing is different. And ComCast is in business because they don't care about the small majority of customers... 3+ million, 2 modem IP ranges... But gods I hate working for them in a third party call center.

Comcast Technical Support...

Yes..always recorded. But I do get to enjoy the irate retention calls anyway. Sending them down to local then listening in on the line while the LOCAL rep yells at the customer for 10 minutes. It's not too bad because of that...but the mute button helps to blow off some steam when the custs do...
