OP: You're asking about inexpensive, daily items, right? Perhaps it would be better to ask how much certain, ubiquitous items cost? Like, how much does it cost to purchase an average... ...bottle of soda? ...meal at a fast-food restaurant? ...movie ticket? ...box of condoms? Et cetera...

Long term benefits of "supplements"

Just out of curiosity, what class are you? Powerlifting, or Olympic? Personally, the only drug I've ever supplemented with was caffeine. :) In three years, I increased my lifts by by at least 150% each. (I was a pretty scrawny guy to begin with.) But after three years of zero training...

Whacky idea #7549: Why don't manufacturers integrate an ARM chip on the PCB?

There's no financial incentive. Traditionally, the enthusiast market isn't a significant fraction of most OEM's sales, so the R&D/tooling cost would probably outweigh the profit potential...
