Is there a device that allows for switching between speakers and headphones???

My X-fi platinum with the break-out box allows me to do this. I can have both speakers and headphones plugged in a the same time. Theres also a setting where it lets you mute the speakers when the break-out box detects a headphone plugged in. You could also change the levels for the...

How to clean a Tempurpedic pillow

So i have this tempurpedic pillow and these things are like sponges. After a year of use, my pillow is a lot heavier than i first received it. Does anyone know a way to clean this material without ruining? I've been doing all kinds of searches and can't find much on it. Thanks!

Audiophiles.

So, basically your setup will be mostly for music? If so, 2 bookshelves will go a LONG way and its so much more worth it in the end. I was in your shoes about 2-3 years ago asking the same questions and of course, YoYo was there to help me out. :) I spent so much money on computer speakers...

Any place to find how a batch of E6600s overclocks?

From personal experience, most E6600s will go 3.6ghz and if you're lucky enough to get a good batch you could go higher. Just don't expect 4ghz with air cooling! I've built 5 E6600 machines and all of them did 3.5-3.6ghz but no more.

Gigabyte DS3 doesn't have FW on board?

^^what he said. I use a thermalright HR-05 aftermarket NB heatsink. Works great without a fan.

What chipset does the GA-965P-DS3 use for SATA RAID?

I'm using 2 IDE optical drives in my DS3 and haven't had any problems whatsoever. I can't say the same for IDE HDs though.

digi cam question.

From what i remember reading, isn't the SD1000 a lesser model than say the SD600-SD800? I personally own the SD600 and find it a fantastic performer for the price. I paid $155 for it during one of those crazy dell deals.

My Mouse is Randomly Double-Clicking, and it's Driving Me Crazy!!

Try changing the double-click speed in your mouse settings. If that doesn't work, install a difference version of the setpoint software. And if all else fails, call a priest. :)

Dumbest thing you've ever done

The first computer i built was a 1ghz AMD Thunderbird. I was installing an alpha copper heatsink and for some odd reason decided to plug in the power cord before i started installing the block. Well, right when i plugged in the power cable, the system turns on out of nowhere! I didn't know...

DO NOT apply "Goo Gone" to an LCD when you're cleaning it!

I just use warm water to clean my LCD. Easy and safe!

2 gigs vs 3 gigs ram

I've never heard of superfetch before this thread but sounds like a logical step up for Vista since it requires a minimum 1GB. So 4GB is worth the extra cost is what i'm getting from this thread?

what's a GOOD, QUIET, CHEAP power supply?

Go with the FSP. I've built countless machines for friends with that same PSU and never had any problems. Quiet and reliable sums it up.

New headphones

the HD555/595 are open so scratch those. AT900 can be driven ampless very easily. Another closed headphone would be the Beyerdynamics DT770. Although, the DT770 would need an amp at higher volumes but with my X-fi, it got pretty good volume ampless.

Building a new system, stuck on RAM choice. Please help!

Stock CAS readings does not mean that the memory will be worse. What really matters are the ICs on them. D9GMH are widely known to be highly overclockable with the right voltage and timing. I have some Crucial 10th Anniversary D9GMH sticks and i'm sure they overclock the same as any other...

CD/DVD Printing

I had an Epson R200 (i think thats the model) and after the first month of mostly DVD printing it started reading the ink levels incorrectly. New ink cartridges would show up empty and wouldn't print anymore. Now i have a Canon IP5000 and have been happy since (2 years now?).

Try getting some Buffalo Firestix which are guaranteed D9GMH which will hit 1000mhz. btw i know a certain someone who's selling some of that EXACT ram here on anandtech! :)

Is it a problem with my motherboard or processor?

So Confused. $150 to spend on Headphones

What Speakers Do You Guys Use?

I went from a 2 channel Altec Lansing > Logitech z-540 > Logitech z-5500 > my current Ascend 170SE + Mirage S12 Sub :) Out of all my upgrades, i'm probably going to keep it the longest and trust me.. for the small space that they're in these babies sound greeat!

Vista 512MB RAM requirement

Looking for a good cheap chair for my new computer desk

What could cause a monitor to flicker off intermittently?

I had a problem like this with my GF's computer that i put together for her. It was with a fx5900 i believe and i fixed it by using old drivers that were new at the time of the card's release.

Wireless Headphone Recommendations

do you really need wireless..? I doubt you would be able to get decent wireless headphones for $120. If wire annoyance outweighs sound quality for you than a friend of mine has a pair of USB wireless Sennheisers that sound like total crap IMO but he loves them.. and they work :)

No, i think the 24" monitor is a very good present. Especially if he games. The only problem is BF2 has a lot of movement and he may not like the tearing coming from his monitor. Also, you have to put into consideration that if he has a bigger monitor, he would have to buy a better graphics...

the safest way is obviously CD/Floppy and using the bios qflash program. I usually just put all my settings to stock and use @bios program to update.

For the F7 and maybe the F6 bios, if you restart your computer, your drivers get 'lost' and the only way to get them back is to do a hard shutdown and most of the time it reappears. It's a known issue with the DS3 motherboards. I'm using the F8 right now and i think it fixes the problem. So...
