Both sets come in dual channel configs. The rev 2's use different IC's which run at slightly lower timings and voltage. You should set the timings to cas 4 trcd 5 trp 4 and tras 15 with the voltage at 2.1V. When you use memset you'll have to figure out the rest of the timings for your system...
The memory will work just fine with the CPU you have, and will give you quite a bit of headroom for overclocking the CPU. Since the CPU has a default FSB of 200Mhz and the memory is designed to run at 333 you'll be able to push things easily as long as the board is up for it
How much vdimm can the board put out?
Either way I'd go for the rev 2 of the paltinum PC2 6400

AFAIK it's still in the works. It was almost released a few months back, but we wanted to make it better so it went back for another revision. People have been hounding us about it for some time, but I still don't have a release date.
Have you tried clearing your CMOS using the motherboard jumper? Something may be set wrong in the bios and that would clear it up. After you reset the bios you can set the timings and voltage again manually
Can you try each of the sticks seperatly in the system? Manually set the correct voltage and timings for the memory in BIOS and give it a shot.
I would use Memtest 86 to test the memory as it will let you test in DOS without risking damage to your windows install
I heard it may be out by the holidays, but they don't really tell us about those kinds of things. I want them to come out just as much as everyone else :)
I agree. Looks like it's time to RMA.
If it makes you feel any better my Gigabyte DS3 died 10 minutes after I turned it on....so at least you have a working board :)
What timings are you looking for specifically? Your memory is rated at 5-5-5-15 timings at 2.1V. As you overclock higher above stock speed you'll need to loosen the timings.

Hi
Are you using the f4 original bios or the f4c version? If you have not already tried the f4c version I would give that a try as it works very well with almost all memory out on the market today
You can find a download link in this thread...
In general the SPD timings are set looser than the actual memory timings. Some boards have problems booting with lower timings, so this ensures they memory works on more boards. All you need to do is enter the bios and set the timings manually to 4-5-4-15
Which bios are you using for this board? Make sure you have the latest one and that after flashing you clear your CMOS using the jumper on the board. Undervolting memory is not bad as long as your system is stable. In order to say the memory is stable in memtest you should leave it to run for at...
I dont' remember off hand how much voltage this motherboard can provide to the memory, but the memory does need 2.3V to run at full speed. As long as the board is able to put out enough voltage and you're running a Conroe CPU everything should be fine.
Good question. The timings, voltage and heatspreader all seem to be the same so the only thing I can think of is a new IC in the rev 2 sticks. I don't deal with production so I don't know off hand which IC's are in either.
