After reading a few reviews of the Abit AN8 SLI motherboard,

Motherboards.org I have decided to pick one up. After all, this is a great price for a NF4 SLI motherboard and I really like the heatpipe idea.
I have built a few systems for my friends using the same board and they have been running flawlessly. The NF7-S Rev 2 is one of the best NF2 boards ever built.
Boot from the XP CD, and press F6 when you see the message on the bottom of the screen. Later windows will ask you to insert the floppy that contains drivers for your controller card. Follow instruction to partition and format your drives and you are all set.
IMO it is definitely overpriced and the SB lack of SATA2 is another disadvantage compare with NF4. I'd like to see other manufactures like Abit, Asus, DFI's solution with a different SB solution before jumping in.
Sounds like it's the problem with the board, but I would test the board outside of the case to make sure it's not a grounding problem before sending it back for RMA>
Why not get the non-Fat version AN8 SLI for almost $70 less? ABIT AN8 SLI As far as I can tell, there only differences are the Dual OTES and the Guru panel. Save your $70 and get the AN8 SLI.
Get the BIOS from the following link. BIOS I believe Gbyte has a windows program that you can upgrade the BIOS. Otherwise you will have to make a bootable disk and flash the BIOS in the dos environment.
Make sure the CPU fan is connected to the CPU fan header on the board. Some boards have protective feature that shuts off the system where if the BIOS does not detect fan speed on the CPU fan header.
Other than that, check for grounding issues. Try to test the board on a phone book or...
The ABIT AN8 SLI is only $13 more than the Ultra version. Personally I'd get that over the other boards as I have seen some good reviews on the AN8 SLI and the passive cooling looks REAL nice. ;)
