We went to Moskito island yesterday for breakfast and sailed to Larry Page (? google guy)'s island yesterday. Leaving today to heli-board the Alps unfortunately. :(
It was interesting and surprising to see you suggest he work on the dyslexia, first. I worry that this would cause even more frustration because he's tried so many things, with private schools, tutors, teachers, therapists, etc. He got through college with special assistance (i.e. extra time...
Brilliant, brilliant man.
It made my heart hurt to watch that video... My boyfriend has has similar experiences where he becomes so frustrated and overwhelmed, it's debilitating.
I noticed on Richard Stallman's wiki page that he has never married...
Reading this article and all the comments made me cry.
It made me think of my father.
He is 65 now and took an early retirement from GM in order to try and start his own software development company. It did well and he was happy until the tech bubble burst...
GM slashed benefits for...
Thank you for sharing your personal experience and your opinions. I appreciate your feedback and I also agree that they are very real concerns that are overdiagnosed.
Why do you worry about the couple of kids that you mentioned who have autism and are high functioning and brilliant? What is...
If you have aspergers/autism or know someone who does, I'd really appreciate your insight on the following questions:
1. What do you do for work?
2. How do you manage "bad days" when you are in your head, depressed/anxious/struggling?
3. When you are experiencing extreme stress and...
My heart was beating like crazy watching this:

bigrash - Hurry, they're almost all gone! My sister and her husband took a ton to work to feed to their coworkers. :)
CPA - Lower left hand corner... Kind of just a snowman with green buttons.
sixone - Awesome, LOVE! Pics? ;)
bradley - Thank you! Great spending quality time together at...
Magnus - Lol zombie snowman... Thanks, I made it! :)
phucheneh - HA!! That would be my youngest sister... Slapped on some frosting, doused hers in sprinkles, left the table to watch some Housewives reality show. :P
SearchMaster - You are so welcome... Happy holidays to you and your loved ones...
Those little cakes (Little Debbie?) shaped like christmas trees with yellow cake and white frosting inside. They don't really taste like anything, but the nostalgia value is strong. :)
My three little sisters and I just finished decorating about 100 xmas cookies.
I only ate three during the several hours that it took to frost and decorate all of them. :)
Happy holidays, everyone!
Agreed... And if I'm ever a parent, I'd like to think that I'd be that kind of parent. But yes... Until then, I'll avoid breaking their hearts. I'll wait for the right time to tell them, and hopefully that will happen in our lifetimes.
Major props to you in being comfortable and fully accepting of who you are, as you are. That's a tough thing for a lot of people who are constantly seeking validation externally (as I did for a long, long time). I respect you being congruent in your professional life, too... It takes a lot more...
Exactly. And same with me... There have been times I've slipped and told my parents something that I wanted to tell them but which they obviously didn't want to know and it has oftentimes resulted in MASSIVE stress and worry (my parents are natural worriers, especially my mom, and worry...
Freaking love this. Thanks fuzzybabybunny.
110% agreed that I strive to be someone who anyone else can tell anything to. Completely accepting as-is and free of any judgment. Kinda necessary for what I do professionally, but a standard I also hold myself to personally. I think that all...
Have you asked them about it since then? That's a pretty big secret to keep but I understand why they'd make the choice to keep it... Definitely something that you share if and when you decide it's the right time.
Fair enough. They don't need to know all the details about your finances, love life, etc. And you're right, there are certainly things about their life that I don't NEED to know although nothing that they could tell me would make me love them any less.
I have a tendency to be more of an open...
I agree that there are some things they just don't need to know, like details of your sex life. :P
Do you mind sharing the vague specifics about things you won't be telling your parents and things that they just don't need to know?
For example... One of my friends lost her job and knew...
Now I'm thinking about getting a Chase Freedom or American Express card... I've had my Discover since college but it kinda sucks. Whenever I whip it out, people are like "You still have a Discover? I didn't know they still made those!" :P
It's always interesting being home again for the holidays. All sorts of old stuff gets stirred up, good and bad.
I love my family, but it makes me a little sad that there are some things that I just can't tell my parents. They are integral parts about who I am and things that have happened...
