    [Retired] The LCD Thread

I hope I'll be forgiven if I butt into this thread without reading the whole thing first... I'm in the market for an LCD monitor that's less than $500 and will work well for gaming with both a PC and an Xbox 360. I spent a few days reading hardforum and getting some advice, but I'd like to...

    BSODs and Clicking Noise

You know, I really should have tried that earlier! And no, it shows up as Unknown Device on another PC, so I'm very much guessing that it's just a bad mouse.

    BSODs and Clicking Noise

Yup. The only thing that shows up in the inf directory is the new directory. I'm starting to think that maybe the mouse is just malfunctioning?

    BSODs and Clicking Noise

I had previously used the driver that came with the headset, and I installed the one that the manufacturer's website pointed to. It was unclear if that was a newer driver or not. So far, after less than a day of continuous testing, I've not yet BSOD'd yet. That proves nothing, of course. I'll...

    BSODs and Clicking Noise

I checked out dclive's site, and I used the windows debugger to check out the dumps. Here's what I got: *** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for cmudaxu.sys *** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for cmudaxu.sys Probably caused by : usbohci.sys (...

    BSODs and Clicking Noise

After about two years of mostly-perfect functioning, my computer got four BSODs in the last two days. Also, when I booted up my computer a couple boots ago, I got several loud clicks before it started up (and ran fine until the next BSOD). I've heard of clicking being a harbinger of hard...

    Monitor Blinking On and Off

Y'know, that's a really good point. I should note that a picture does appear onscreen for milliseconds at a time when the monitor is blinking on and off, so video card/video cable failure seems unlikely. I guess I'll just try to replace the monitor.

    Monitor Blinking On and Off

Bump. No extra monitors in the house, frustration ensuing.

    Monitor Blinking On and Off

It's a Viewsonic VX724 LCD Display, 17" gaming monitor. It's connected to a pretty high-powered SLI computer built by Cyberpower with a 535W PS. The computer and monitor are both one year old, and neither has had any significant problems during that time.

    Monitor Blinking On and Off

I accidentally left my computer on when I left the house today. I came back 10 hours later to find the monitor blinking on and off. The green light was actually turning on and off; it was not just the screen. The blinks occurred every 3 seconds or so. When it was on, there would be a brief...

    Damn Windows - Need troubleshooting

Luckily, the files I'm dying to get at are not in my Documents&Settings folder. Those I backed up earlier (most of them), and I have to email each one to myself so that I can print them on a different machine. So that's not a concern. I'll try a Repair Install from the Windows CD as soon as I...

    Battlefield 2 Resolution

I'm probably just being really stupid, but... It seems that I can't set Battlefield 2 resolution to my LCD's native res (12x10). I see all the options for all the resolutions up to this one, but then the list just cuts off. Why would this be? Half-life 2 allows me to hit the native res, and...

    SLI Disabled

I have an SLI bridge. The motherboard is of a very reputable brand. There is no way that it is a problem with the model of mobo. I checked my SLI card to see how it was positioned, but I'm not sure which direction is which, with the photo you gave or the pictures in my manual. Besides...

    Some kinks to work out

If the computer boots from a nonexistant network...

The MB is a Gigabyte K8NXP SLI I believe (code may be wrong). I don't know exactly what the BIOS is. In the manual it gives information on AMI and AWARD BIOSes, but a chip in the MB is labeled "Pheonix BIOS". The network card is an onboard one.
