Well, I did it. lol I purchased a 2405FPW on Monday. :) Got it through eBay - with shipping, it was $934.** Yeah, not a great deal, but less than if I'd gone with Dell or damn close. It'll be here Friday. I can't wait! Thanks all for the great input. :)

You really like VIA that much more than nForce? Wow. I won't do dual core b/c it won't affect my gaming and I don't do any sort of multimedia stuff aside from gaming and DVDs. Would be a waste of $.

939 AGP

I'm not really an overclocker, but the Abit KV8 K8T800 VIA board is VERY nice. Stable as anything. Comes with some software over clocking and whatnot, but I only have retail box 64 3500+ cooling, so not really an option for me.

I like my Abit enough that I'm definately willing to go with an Abit PCI-E SLI board. Do any of you know how that passive cooling on the SLI 2.0 Abit board is? Is the passive cooling better than slapping the fan on top of the chip?

My puter's DVD player... I dunno if it's Progressive. It was a $60 LG model that burns and reads both DVDs and CDs, both R and RW and DL for DVDs. Even does DVD RAM. Awesome drive.

Normally I play games @ 1600x1200. FS2k4, DoD... BF2, HL2, Doom3 and others I usually play @ 1280x1024. 16x12 is nice, but eh... I usually don't turn on AA or AF at that high a res - don't really need it! :) But man... About $1000... Arrrrrrrrrgh. I have online classes - I can't...

Arrrrrrrrgh... lol I just built this system less than a year ago. lol Means I'd have to reinstall everything, practically disassemble my tower (Thermaltake Tsunami Dream) to get my old mobo out, plug in the new one, reattach everything... I'd be sitting around with a useless video...

After doing some reading on these forums, that's pretty much what I figured would happen. When are they going to come out with "gaming" CPUs - Dual Core's that can be used by present games? Would be very nice.

Yeah, minor detail. :( After doing some reading, it seems that the dual core X2s wouldn't really help much as they're still just two 2.2GHz cores instead of a combined 4.4GHz core. Games wouldn't take advantage of it - lame.

I'm assuming that it will as it's a 939 chip and so is my mobo. Right now I'm running a 64 3500+. Would I see a noticable increase in speed were I to get the... say... 4200 or 4400? Thanks for the help!

I hadn't thought of this until I was reading up on these forums - if my puter will handle running the games at native res. Esp. on that 24". I've got an AMD 64 3500+ w/1GB RAM. ATi x800 256Pro. Most games I can definately run at 16x12, but I'd have to turn down the detail options. Hm...
