Decision time, 4790k vs 5930

VM's will be Linux LAMP stack, Windows 2012 R2 with SQL2014, OS-X and Windows 8/10 with VS2015. Again, if I go with X99 it will be with 64Gb (hopefully being able to use a lot of it for RAMDisk to keep whatever I'm playing on tap) but yeah, can see the point to turning off most of the VM's...

Nope, not opposed to overclocking, hell one of my first AMD64 boards was an ASUS specifically for overclockability ;) Corsair H110 is in build to make things a little easier, along with MSI board if I go X99 for the ease of OCing it.

Decision time, 4790k vs 5930

SLI Titan-X is already budgeted along with 3 x 4K AOC monitors. Question though isn't really regarding the choice for gaming as I know there isn't much of a difference between them, more about the ability to do so while streaming/recording and productivity tools when not gaming.

Best path right now (1155 vs 2011)

@Timorous yeah, I'm running 5 on IS with a 6950 and it's fine but it's feeling the strain under a few other games such as BF3 or even running good settings on all clients (eg I have particles, liquid, sunshafts and view distance all on high on all clients so I can quickly look for sparklies...

Hmm, thanks for the replies guys, didn't realise that about the 1080p24. That seems to imply that going forward even PS3 and 360 3D games will only ever render at 720p max :/ Slightly annoying about still needing to get the glasses kit as well, guess I'll scrap that plan and just worry about...

460sli vs 480sli

From my understanding the 460's will do nvSurround as well but yeah it is a concern on if they have the horsepower to play something like Black Ops across 3 screens or if I'll have to only use one for something like that compared to the 480's. I usually go about 2-3 years between new systems...

Hopefully a fairly simple question :) I currently have an evga 780 SLI mobo with 3 PCIE slots in it. I'm running 2 7800GTX's to run 4 monitors on it, and then another 2 on a second PC but it just occurred to me that I could perhaps place a third card in the free slot and run the final two...

This is purely for multiboxing WoW, since for everything else I'm not too concerned with losing frames (eg for most other games I'll be running single screen SLI, and for desktop work I can just run 4 screens without worrying too much). With multiboxing WoW atm I run one instance fullscreen...
