Help..Router Question

thanks guys... im in the tampa bay area of florida. they recently offered a 20mbps connection. so, i jumped on it. dont think im getting it tho. couple dumb questions.. how do i know the speed available for wired connection on my router. it seems to only list the wireless speed. router box...

Help..Router Question

Hi.. I have Brighthouse Road Runner Cable.. supposedly 20mbps. I recently added a second pc, but didnt want or need a wireless connection. Wired is easily done. So, i bought a cheap Belkin wireless G Router. My question is... if im going wired..no wireless, does it matter what router i use...

im actually only running single core.. amd 3500. i have 2gb of ram. i noticed the chugging in-game when i started using voice buddy. it doesnt seem to be ram issue. in task manager, voice buddy app is only using 6,500 kb or so. the cpu% jumps immediately from like 15% to 25% usage just by...

do you guys have an idea of the ati x1800xt 512mb gpu performance compared to the newest gpu's. would it be close to the x1900xt? im trying to determine how much of a performance increase id get with an 8800.

Anyone know of a good comparison review of the GTX vs GTS 640? Considering Im running at 16x12 max with an amd 3500, would a gtx be a waste of money? Would the gts 640 give me the same performance. Im trying to justify the extra cost of the gtx. or not....hehe.

thanks chizow... are you sure the 8800's will fit my case and my ps is ok? is there a major increase in performance going with the gtx over the gts 640? would the gtx absolutely run the toughest games well with maxed quality at 16x12?

Not a thing.. i just decided i could swing a couple hundred more. So, moved up to an xtx and a 4200 cpu. Ive had good luck with corsair ram... However, im open to all suggestions. Thnx for your input.

Man things have changed in the last 6-7 months. AMD was the only way to go for gaming then. I know very little about intel rigs... is the performance really that much better for a similar price. ill have to do more research. hows the samsung 204b monitor... opinions

Help... SATA Hard Drive and NForce4

well...i ordered a western digital caviar sata II, 320 gig drive from the egg. I really, really hope this drive doesnt give me the same trouble. Im now thinking i shudda went with an ide drive to completely avoid this whole mess. its pretty unacceptable that the latest sata II drives are iffy...

I have an EPOX Ultra NForce4 Motherboard and a SATA Seagate Barracuda 7200.8 Hard drive. I have had frequent WinXP Boot/loading problems. My tech thinks its a bad drive....Im not sure. Sometimes windows loads fine, other days it takes several attempts...restarts to load, often even more...

Far Cry - AA - FPS

well...discovered something.... i unchecked adaptive anti aliasing, in ccc settings... when in the same load spot mentioned above... my fps went from 35 to 73!! this is with 6x AA selected in game. im still not getting 100+ fps in game that i believe i should be getting, but, its a start...

ok...no hdr. just regular settings. very strange stuff going on with AA... I saved an outdoor area with lots of foliage. with 4AA on, i got a pitiful 35fps just standing there. i then changed to no AA, loaded same spot in game.. i got 100fps!! Something is not right. i thought the x1800xt...

where do i enable/disable hdr... i never saw the option. i just have it set to very high on everything but shadows..low. ive got a new amd 64 3500 venice and 2gb of ram, so i should be fine i would think...

Far Cry - AA - FPS

What is up with far cry and anti aliasing... my fps goes to crap. without aa at 1600x1200, everything on very high, im getting 70-100 fps. with even 4aa im slowed to 25-40 fps.... what the hell is that. AND This is with an ati x1800 xt!! Is this an issue with far cry?

X1900 XTX & Quake 4 anti aliasing problem

what i found... at least with my x1800xt using catalyst 5.13. in quake 4, when i had ccc aa at let the application decide, and attempted to set aa in game, it would never work...like you said. what i do is in ccc - i set the aa at 6x and leave in game quake aa to off. it works for me. try it...

CCC Overdrive is not showing my current clock speeds, only my requested clocks... anyone have any ideas?? Do CCC Overdrive settings load automatically, every time windows loads?? OR do i need to open ccc, load the profile with the overdrive settings and activate? or.... what is the best way...

cool.. im running it at 100% during games. when in windows..just default speed. the ccc overdrive overclock helps some, but 3dmark is still only around 8900. seems low compared to other scores ive seen. still have to cut back some eye candy in far cry and quake 4

good question... actually, i didnt plan on overclocking at all. however, after running and testing it in 3dmark05 and games, im a little dissapointed in my performance at stock speed. at stock i was only getting 8400 in 3dmark... i should really be getting 9000 or up i would think. also, far cry...

i have a x1800 xt. im currently overclocking with ccc overdrive. i am using ATI Tool to control my Fan Speed. IS THERE A PROBLEM WITH RUNNING THE FAN HIGHER THAN DEFAULT...50, 60, 80, 100% The higher fan speed seems to really keep my temps down. But, im concerned about burning out the fan...
