What differences are there between the desktop and the server install, other than the lack of Gnome? I'll download the server ISO tonight and give that a go. Setting up CUPS and Samba from a command line...yay :S

So far I've tried: Ubuntu 7.10 regular disc = installed, but wouldn't boot. I think I screwed up the /boot section. openSUSE 10.3 = worked, but couldn't get RAID loaded and was just generally slow ClarkConnect 4.2 Community = would not recognise my Ethernet port (Realtek issues with that...

Seamonkey on Puppy Linux

Never mind, turns out the problem was just cookies being blocked. Checking "Allow All" fixed the problem for Hotmail at least and he was going to try the rest later. Don't I feel stupid :S :)

When reinstalling SUSE I specified a /boot partition as well as the root (/), and it worked. Delicious. Now I'm slowly sorting through the mire of Samba and Apache trying to install printers/shares and stuff. Thanks to all anyway.

After taking the SATA RAID out, just got "NO BOOT, PLEASE INSER DISK AND ENTER" or something similar. Started up on Ubuntu 7.10 CD (first one was corrupt disk, second burn works fine), wiped the CF and installed Ubuntu onto it, tried again, "Missing Operating System". Tried booting it in a card...

I have archived off everything in her inbox more than 6 months old, which leaves ~1400 messages, and deleted all of the joke attachment emails. It's supposed to do that automatically every two weeks but apparently it doesn't, even though the settings are all right? I haven't compressed it...

Do you guys use Google Desktop or Picasa?

I've got it, rarely use it, not too fussed over it. Also, it's index is always heavily fragmented (Defrag always reports thousands of them). Just my experience, go ahead and try it if you like, but I can't see any particular reason to recommend it.
