I ended up going with the Big Typhoon mainly because it's a current top 5 cooler with the lowest price ($42 shipped). I do know that when cooling a X2 4400 that price shouldn't make a difference but I could see no clear consistent performance edge between the Zalman9500, the TR 120 and the Big...

I purchased the Big Typhoon for about $40 shipped. Although the runner up was going to either be the xp-90C, xp-120 or the Zalman 9500, I chose cost and function over form...and I must say Zalman's cooler is the best looking one out there by FAR ....it's too bad you can't choose the LED colors...

Yes, ditch the FX-57 for a 4400 or 4800 X2. I did however see a couple FX-57's selling for $750 BIN on Ebay though, that is if you're still set on that.

What heatsink will give me a few more degrees of cooling ?

eVGA - based on other video cards I've owned from these guys an old 4400MX and then a 6800GT....very reliable IMO. You may want to read some newegg reviews of these units also.

Thermatake Big Typhoon Thermalright 90C (the all copper version) Zalman CNPS9500 Efficiency and performance only. I don't care how much they cost or how hard they are to install on some mobo's....just low temps and most silent running at max stock fan speed. Thanks.
