    New Build, old nerd

Checked with Windows 7 Compatibility Website and Googled the rest. Found some other builds that used various combinations and they worked together quite nicely. Though it took awhile, I'm satisfied that my list is compatible for a 64bit build. Thanks for looking!

    Cure for Diabetes?

:) I'm all for it. Been away for awhile, rehabing from a diabetes complication and did the physical theraphy to get my Bioquest foot. Keeping in shape really keeps the blood sugars down and proper dieting really makes sense to me now. Yes, if we really could recognize the signs before the...

    Troubleshooting HP Color Copier 190

Here's a reply I got via email yesterday. Does this happen when printing the same thing? If so I would guess you have a spot of ink on the encoder strip. Clean it as shown at: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/Te...bjectID=bpd50646&jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN paying attention to the warnings. It...

    Printer ink cartridges

Thank goodness that my older Epson printers are still working. The cartridges are affordable. I'm surprised at the newer printers replacement cartridges. Those high prices combined with smaller reservoirs doesn't make for economy in printing. I've been fortunate in finding affordable...

    Troubleshooting HP Color Copier 190

Whenever I copy text with color illustrations, I get this 3/8" vertical lighten stripe on my copies. My text shows a little lightening of grayscale shading. When coping color; pictures, photographs, magazines etc, no striping. If I use the B&W copy switch, no vertical striping. When using...

Lian Li: I don't get it...

My rigs are LLs. Built many steel-based computers and almost had an hernia with a full tower once. Accidentally came across a used LL and never went back to steel again. Quality and all the positive vibes on LLs kept me there ever since. All the flash, bells and whistles fade away on the...

What is a sufficient ammount of RAM for video edditing?

I find that 2GB is quite adequate but for speed, I would recommend a fast processor. Combine the two and you should find video editing enjoyable.

Anyone have a Lian Li PC-A10B?

I have 3 older LLs and I just found this link http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/LianLi/PC-A10B The nice features are the four 120mm fans. The side intake front grills are kinda odd but at least LL is trying to ease its "boring look" as some people put it. IMO I like whatever LL has to...

    New System

I have 3 LLs and using YL fans, my rigs are very quiet. That LL case you've chosen makes me dizzy from looking upside down. Its rather cramped for my tastes but for some folks IMO it maybe OK. I would opt for a roomier case if you're planning on 2 8800GTS.

The C2D is a great start and if you're on a budget, you still can build a pretty decent rig.

    A Case 4Ever

My three computer cases are Lian-Li's. Oldest 7yrs, newest 2 yrs. I once had those monstrous steel towers and after trying to lug them around, I decided to get aluminum. After getting a LL PC-60, I was impressed by the quality of construction and other features. The price was a little high...

I got a Cyberpower 1250W AVR and its been very reliable through the brownouts and power outages we have occasionally here on Maui. Costco had a deal of $99 a while back and sold out in 2 days. Someone tell me if this build will work fine...

Either LL will do fine, I have both. I've added a 250mm side intake and a top 120mm exhaust on my PC-61 and it works! The advantage with the PC-61 is that it has a removeable mobo tray. I sometimes wish my PC-7 had one. Oh well, get what works for you.

Would my current machine make a good workstation?

It really depends upon whether you're doing video for yourself or others. Your needs may not as exacting as some of us. The Quadro for Avid is recommended because the gaming card might experience dropped frames while the Quadro will yield professional results. I usually recommend pulled...

    Cases with psu at bottom

IMO, it doesn't really matter whether its top or bottom. My PSUs on my rigs are at the top, but some of my friends' LL's have their's at the bottom with no concerns. It's a matter of choice.
