There are some problems with the Gainward Ti4200's - I've had 2 bad cards myself. Both the Ultra/650 with 64mb 3.5ns ram.
First one lasted over a month, the second about a week. Each developed lines/blocks colored characters during POST and lockups with colored blocks and bars all over the...
if I can stand it, I'm going to hold on to what I have until Hammer is out.
Its gonna be hell.... I may even have to get away from the PC for little while :Q
Know what you mean. Mine started making the noise of a pending demise so I put a heatsink from an old matrox G200 on there. Seems to work well enough for me, the noise is gone and I don't smell anything burning....yet
I've looked around and found what should be a better heatsink from here...
I haven't seen any large comparisons as of yet...but...the ASUS P4B266 looks pretty damn good to me. I'll probably end up caving into the evil of Intel and buying a P4/P4B266/DDR this go around. :Q
Man. That's just pitiful. It looks like some cheap, 2-bit infomercial you'd see at 2am...only not a third as good.
This is what happens when you have the engineers do marketing.
I did get one hellova laugh from it though so it wasn't a complete loss.
Didn't ya just love that "gamer" kid...
You may want to try some name brand RAM (Crucial) and see if that fixes the problem. I've had the same problem but on a different mainboard and the better ram did the trick.
Hope that helps
I'm gutting and old PII333 system and plan to use the new Duron (Morgan) with the K7S5A mobo. The case currently has a 250 watt P/S. Is that enough or will I need to get a 300?
Thx

I sent an email to them questioning this but have not yet recieved a response.
Anyone else heard anything?
Try going here (link below) and obtain the dmacheck.exe utility from MS. It will check the current DMA status (which is disabled by default in NT 4.0)and allow you to specify the IDE channel to be enabled.

Hope this helps
Yeah your PS should be plenty. Looks like your cpu is not chipped up so that's cool.
Hmmm...what about your case led, power, reset, hdd light cable connections..are they connected correctly to the MB?
Just some thoughts
May want to make sure the cpu die didn't get cracked whe the heatsink was installed. Also, if you know someone that has one you can borrow, try swapping out the cpu with a known good one.
I'm not familiar with that particular MB - are there any jumpers to set the...
FDISK will work. You'll just need to delete the non-dos partition. NTFS will show up as HPFS.
KGBMAN is right..GDISK is superior to M$'s FDISK. It used to be available for DL at Symantec's site - not sure if it is now though.
I just installed the card and noticed shadows (ghosting)around text in windows. Has anyone else had this problem and is there a fix?
