Didn't think these would ever pop up again. Solid card, but this is the same price I paid at TD 4 full months ago... not nearly the deal it was back then.
Here at UC Berkeley I e-mailed the computer store, they got back and said they will have this same edition for $73... so no dirt cheap academic pricing here :(
Hot! In for 1 :)
FYI they have a feature where they can match your info to a database that has over half of all students in it, so you don't even need to go through the hassle of sending/uploading verification! I'm at UC Berkeley and it worked for me.
Update today from Mark Brown:
Thanks everyone. I know you're all anxious to get your hands on these products. Please be patient. We're working hard processing the W9's and picking/packing/labeling the products to go out early this next week.
He also says:
?btw I just confirmed with my team...
Awesome, thanks for the benchies!
I'd be interested in seeing read speeds as well, since the access times are rather high at 160ms.
Anyone else benchmark theirs yet?
Good find, aside from Plextor SATA models are very difficult to find.
It's tempting but I'll hold off in hopes of SATA going mainstream in the next year. I can't wait to get of the IDE bus!
Totally depends on which 7,200 drive you're talking about. But generally speaking, considerably faster. The Raptors are as fast as they come for SATA/IDE.
During install it also gives you the option to Upgrade to the full version for only $9.99. That's pretty hot considering it goes for $29.99! I jumped on it.

Pretty hot. This is the new 16MB version, next cheapest on PriceGrabber is $110 shipped.
Free Shipping, Tax in CA. If only their price on the 74GB or 150GB version was this hot!
Great program, made the switch from Nero and haven't looked back.
FYI this offer is for the previous version. It is currently at version 6.30.
However, if you can use this version to upgrade, it will save you $10 off the $30 price.
2007? There is no such version. This appears to be version 5, which is older. 6.30 is the most current.
With that said, I use version 6 and I like it much better than Nero. Does everything I need it to do without all the bloat.
Good call. I cancelled my order for the Kingston and opted for the ATP Tough Drive. 2 gigs is useless to me if it takes half an hour to fill it.
Here is a review of the ATP. They were very impressed by its speeds:

A Microsoft spokesman from the Licensing Dept told bit-tech that this would not be the case. He told us that Windows Vista will not require a system re-activation unless the hard drive and one other component is changed. This means that enthusiasts will be able to swap CPUs, memory and graphics...
Don't retail versions get a lot more activations? I believe this is the case, and if so, retail is the way to go if you plan on upgrading over the course of the next 3+ years.

^ Perhaps, but the GTO is a limited production card. Notice that sellers are removing the item from their site all together, not just saying sold out.
If mwave was getting more in a few weeks, would they really raise the price $70? I'm not so sure.
