    Please recommend quiet PSU

I'd say hybrid psus are by far the best. Fanless is extremely limited in application since they cost a lot more to guarantee fanless operation and you will have active airflow somewhere in your computer generally. Definitely a hybrid that can be fanless sometimes is the best of both worlds, you...

    Corsair 600 CX V2 enough good ?

Not sure what wiggle room he needs unless he's going to SLI/Xfire. No single gpu system goes over 430w unless you do really stupid things.

430w not enough for little boost on 3570k?

Also as mentioned by others, 99% chance of stability problem that is unrelated to psu, buying a psu will cure nothing most likely. Your O/C technique seems poor so far. The proper way to oc when you run into an issue is to oc only one item with a small increase. Then test this for a few days...

430w not enough for little boost on 3570k?

Thing is most psus can at way above their maximum rating. So the so-called yearly power loss doesn't even affect the max power usage you can draw. You should be able to draw maximum rated power all the way until the end of the warranty period and probably far beyond. There is no bs about...

Antec ISK 300-65 and Core i7-2600S enough watts?

Unless they changed the psu, the 150w is pretty low quality and not very quiet. That's also the main reason I went with the 65. Plus it takes up less space inside the case. http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/Antec-ISK300-150-Case-Review/934/6

Antec ISK 300-65 and Core i7-2600S enough watts?

Btw personally I run a Core i3-2100 on the ISK 300-65, and had planned to upgrade to a 90w adapter if it didn't work. However I did full tests including max load on both cpu/graphics + optical drive and didn't get above like 60 watts. Also tested some games successfully and I'm of the conclusion...

Antec ISK 300-65 and Core i7-2600S enough watts?

I forgot the links, but I can guarantee this is true. You can check the internal power converter for the 300-65 and note it handles far more power than 65 watts. I'd say to be on the safe side something like a 90-120w power adapter would work well. The only other thing is making sure the power...

Whats thew Difference: Modular vs Normal?

Once you go modular it's hard to go back. That's one thing I noticed. The magic of not having extra cables cluttering your computer is amazing. Beyond extra cost, modular has no disadvantages over non-modular. The only issue is poorly designed connectors and you don't see that on any high...

[OFFICIAL] Bulldozer Reviews Thread - AnandTech Review Posted

Yea there's definitely some danger that server usage won't be that great either, but I'm guessing that high integer performance will actually possibly be useful here. And that is the main advantage bulldozer has if anything. Also I assume they'll have ways to decrease power consumption via...

Why is the response to Bulldozer so overwhelmingly negative?

I actually feel sad right now. Bulldozer is so bad for so many of the reasons everyone has already stated. I was really hoping for the next Athlon/Athlon64, instead we got basically the next AMD K5. If you remember that chip, it just wasn't competitive and it took the K6 for AMD to finally be...

[OFFICIAL] Bulldozer Reviews Thread - AnandTech Review Posted

Truly a disappointment. I was hoping for something with moderate ipc increases and a small to decent advantage over sandy bridge in highly threaded apps. Instead, I get lower ipc, slow l2/l3 cache, not even beating sandy bridge in many highly threaded situations. Really I can only see bulldozer...

Can I use my 4 yr old Corsair on a new build?

Uh I'm not sure if you realize this, but a computer with a single video card is generally not even going above 300w. You have way more than enough headroom here.

    Crossfire 6850s, i2500k OC, and 600W PSU

Actually this setup should work perfectly fine on even a high quality 500w. Now mind you, this OCZ psu is on the mediocre side, but since it's 650w, should be more than enough.

    ASUS P8H67-I Non-Deluxe

Ok I'm looking for someone who can help me on this. I've been seeking a LGA1155 mini-itx board with 6 sata slots. That's the #1 need. Only the zotac so far is actually out and it's not a great board. The ASUS P8H67-I Non-deluxe looks perfect....except it's NOT OUT HERE AT ALL. I've been trying...

Will a power supply run if it is not connected to the motherboard (just video)

It's funny to me, they actually did this in frys where they hid a power supply under a shelf, and had it attached to like 15 fans to show fans running in the store. I had fun stalking the fan power leads to figure out where the power supply was hiding.

What brand of PSUs should i get?

Ignoring the little ssd booboos intel has had on at least 2 lines of their ssds ;) Now mind you, I still trust Intel ssd's far more than most other ssd brands. Especially sandforce controller, which are far far too iffy for any production usage to me. Also another way the analogy breaks down...

Proof that small psus do work :)

I don't know of any legit modern pc that isn't mostly 12v. 5v and 3.3v are now rarely used in comparison. Mobos, cpus, and video cards are all mostly powered by 12v.

    Sufficient Wattage?

Moderate overclock would be fine. Even a little bit of overvolting would stay quite a bit below the limits of the psu. To be honest, the real answer is that you are totally in the sweet spot of the psu. Getting more would be completely stupid unless you have specific silencing/oc/etc needs...

Proof that small psus do work :)

I'm not surprised at all. It was planned after all. Also I'm not using SSD as of yet, it's a 2.5" HDD. And the slowest versions are the pentium and/or celeron sandy bridges. All I'm saying is that given the efficiency of a number of components out there, people definitely go massively overboard...

    PICOPSU Power Supply Question

I almost want to say yes to all of the above, but that would be confusing. To make it clear: If you get a 150W Picopsu and use a 102w adapter. You can only draw a max of 102w before overloading your adapter. If you get a 150w Picopsu and your system is using 110w. Your picopsu will use 110w. I...

Zotac Z68 mini itx is out!

The price is painful for sure. And it feels worse to me because you're buying such a tiny board. Although I'm sure it cost a lot more to integrate so many things into a tiny space. Honestly I find the B version to be kind of worthless with the integrated chip. And the A version seems pretty...

    PICOPSU Power Supply Question

I'm not sure you understand how the psu works. All it does is convert generally 12v or 19v power from the power adapter into 12v/5v/3.3v. There is no "power stored". Now what you need is a high efficiency power adapter, preferably something in the 85-90%+ range. I'd recommend you search for...

Proof that small psus do work :)

I just built a HTPC with an Antec ISK300-65 using a standard Core I3-2100, Asrock H67M-ITX/HT, 4GB DDR3, and 2.5" hdd. Not hitting over 65W from the wall even with 4 prime95 threads and furmark 1.9.1 going at the same time. And it's 22w at idle from the wall. I'd estimate that means it's using...

Antec High Current Gamer Series HCG-520 520W vs OCZ ModXStream Pro 500W Modular

The only negative for the Antec is lack of modular cables. But the power supply is easily way better than the OCZ. Hands down.

Piecing together i7 system. So many options, need help!

To be honest, your S12-430 probably would work for your needs, although it's probably a good idea to replace it. Anything high quality 400-500+ watts would probably work fine. And btw it still is kinda easy, antec and seasonic are both perfectly good choices, although there are obviously...

Are there any high quality 100-200W PSUs?

Heh I was just basing it off op's question of "high quality" psus. Of course maybe he just means decent useable ones, of which then fsp is as good as most cheap stuff.
  30. T

Are there any high quality 100-200W PSUs?

Yep, I don't see the point. Just get a good 300-350w seasonic and go go go. Also efficiency at really low levels like 30 watts, it really has zero importance if it's 75% or 80%. You're talking about 1 or 2 watts, invisible compared to your lights, tvs, and other devices. Also while FSP has...

what brands of PSUs are considered Tier 1 to you ?

Of course they don't. But have you seen anything they source turn out bad? Even the low reputation CX430 is pretty decent. And they've only worked with Seasonic, CWT, and Flextronics so far. I don't see any crap coming out of them. Now I would have to say there's a very large Tier 2 out...

Are there any high quality 100-200W PSUs?

Short answer. No. You just called out no bricks or picos, which are the real answer to this question.
  33. T

what brands of PSUs are considered Tier 1 to you ?

Hmm I guess I'd say Tier 1 is where 90%+ of the psus are high quality and it's a company that's been around long enough. Of which there are only a few I can almost always trust as follows: Corsair Seasonic Antec

Okay, decided watts now which Corsair HX,TX,AX

Uh the HX850 is gold for the specific sample they sent. They don't guarantee that for all versions at all. Most companies cheat and say all their psus are gold even if half actually aren't. Corsair is far more legit than most. Anyways if you're debating between HX and AX, it's all about if you...

Pros and Cons of ATX versus micro ATX motherboard?

I'd just like to note wrong on prices being cheaper as you get smaller. Micro-ATX can definitely be cheaper than Full ATX, but mini-itx is generally not cheap unless you get a bottom barrel foxconn. And a number of mini-itx boards are in the 130-150 range. Micro-ATX is probably the cheapest...

How far off is a Intel chipset w/ native Thunderbolt, USB3, SATA6?

I used to be a once a year type, but honestly needs have definitely slowed down, although I guess on average I'm at least once a year since I'm building two new systems to add to my two current ones plus I will upgrade my main probably late this year. So that's 3 this year and hopefully maybe 1...

Intel announces Tri-gate "3-D" transistors for upcoming Ivy Bridge based processors

Wow, this looks like a nice low cost improvement over standard planar design. Amd is going to be in trouble once ivy bridge comes out unless they can come out with a good alternative within 1-1.5 years. The advantage when using low voltage looks extremely helpful for intel in the...

    Corsair HX850 vs AX850

Much as I prefer the AX850, the difference between HX850 and AX850 is small unless you're a silencer. If you don't give a crap about noise differences, the efficiency difference is small and you should shut up and be happy as you stated ;)
