Well, originally I decided to bypass the Samsung Note 7 preorder deal because I thought the price might drop by BF. But I guess that's no longer on the horizon, huh? So, I'll be happy if I can find an nVidia GTX 1080 for a somewhat decent price. I mean, I know I won't be finding them for $400...

SMOKING: NEC Closeout $145 refurbished EA274wmi

The free shipping code listed in the OP worked for me, so total price was $144.20. These don't come with much of a warranty, though. I think it is 90 days. So if mine lasts a year, I'll be happy. But I might get lucky and it will last longer. At this price, if it flakes out, I'll just throw it away.

i7-4790K v.s. i7-5820K

Whatever the problem is, I don't think it is your OS. I use the same thing on a wired Brother 2270DW and it works fine. Wish I could help you with your problem, but at least you can likely eliminate the OS as the culprit. Of course, there could be some settings *in* the OS that are mucking...

Fractal Design Define R5 Reviews

I did a build at Christmas time with a $69 (free shipping) R4. I thought about mounting my SSD on the back, behind the MB tray, but I couldn't imagine having to take the MB out just to take the screws out of the SSD if I need to replace it. That would be a nightmare, just to remove four screws...

Boot problem (can boot only once in 40 tries)

And if you are going to change SATA ports, do try using a different cable as others have suggested. I had a big problem a couple of years ago and was pulling my hair out trying to figure it out. I didn't even consider the cable because I thought they were so simple that nothing could go wrong...

I agree with BonzaiDuck -- if your MB posts are at the end of the block, just move one of the wires to the middle hole on the connector and then plug it in, leaving the open hole hanging off the end. Doesn't matter which way you plug it in because polarity for the Power LED doesn't matter. If...

8 pin and 4 pin MB cpu power connectors

I also have an ASRock X99 board but it is the Extreme 4. Don't know if the OP's is similar, but if this is just a normal molex connector, you only have to use it if you are going to use more than one GPU in CF or SLI. That's what's in the manual, anyway.

That new build you helped me put together... Won't BOOT!

You might try a CMOS clear. To do that, see your motherboard manual. There will either be a jumper or a button to press. Follow the instructions in the manual to do the CMOS clear and then try to power up. Let us know what happens.

Wouldn't you want to go with a Z97 mb for that processor? Or, get something like a Haswell-e 5820K if you want to keep that mb? Since you are also getting DDR4 memory, you probably want a 5820K or a 5930K.

Nope -- you are right -- there is no option to buy it online and pick it up at the store. I think the actual item on sale is a mouse mat. So, the folks at the store ended up not honoring the online price. No biggie for me -- I already have a good gaming keyboard, but it never hurts to have a spare!

GTX 970/980 Release: When is the last time you were this excited about a video card?

For me, in order, 8800GTX, 6950, and 9800. The new Maxwells are impressive, but not so much that I need one to replace my 7970 right now. I'm going to wait to see what kinds of prices there will be on BF and CM.
