2TB HDD to use in RAID5 on Intel ICH10R

i dont think the lack of tler is responsible for your low write performance, what caching do you have enabled? btw i currently have a raid5 array of "green" drives. no problem with perfrmance. also there is a utility to turn on tler on any WD drive.

I have the apple 27-inch, it's hi-res (2560-by-1440), LED backlit, and IPS. there's no other option for led backlit, higher-than-1080p resolution, >24" displays.. at least not for under 2k$

what this might be about is intel adding a usb3 chip like NEC's to the platform specification... but its unlikely it will be native on the chipset/cpu.

Tough choice: i3-530 or i5-750?

I have the i3, and it's plenty fast for starcraft 2 at that res, save the $100 and use it towards your next computer (with sandy bridge). As someone else mentioned, at that resolution you will need a decent video card, like a 5770. -stephen

Yes, crucial is a subsidiary of micron, but crucial makes ram with non-micron ICs (rarely). there seems to be a difference between a micron dimm and a crucial dimm, crucial can put their label and sell any dimm they want, might use micron ICs, might not, might be a micron mfgr'd dimm, might not.

for some periods in time intel has shipped better HSF with xeons than with equivolent consumer cpus... anyway if the price is similar, get the xeon. theres always something around the corner,, in this case you have penryn and the x38 chipset... but you'll have to wait... idunno...

the LG one you linked to is cheaper in stores than on newegg... one of the major B&M stores has it for 300 or 309. look there first. but be for-warned it scored horribly on the input-lag tests... many other problems were fixed in newer firmware.. but i dont know if the input lag was fixed...

i'd recommend not getting an SLI motherboard... nvidia chipsets suck intel has by far the best motherboards... and its usually better to buy a new video card rather than a 2nd for SLI ... 2-3 yrs down the road a single card will be faster than 2 8800s... a lot faster. i still dont see...

but nvidia SLI does not work on the intel P35 chipset (or any intel chipsets). correct me if im wrong.... but as far as i know, if you want nvidia SLI, you need a Nvidia chipset.

Piuc2020: I have been using 64-bit vista since it launched. i have been using dual core intel and amd cpus, and its plenty fast for me. and has gotten alot faster with all the updates to the OS via windows update. you are correct, there are virtually no 64-bit apps... except for windows...
