If you show me a picture of the back of the motherboard, I could point it out, but no it was not where the backplate was. It was towards the upper left of the board.

I know the backplate was the original problem but you think taking it off then powering on fried the mobo? Anyways, that's not really my question, my question is concerning my components.

Different channels don't help, and it's not my signal strength it can't be. I get worse signal with my Microsoft receiever, but no packet loss, and I get perfect signal with my Linksys, but random packet loss.

Why does everyone use the "you can overclock it to the speeds of the 4800" as an argument. Yes, you can! But you can also overclock the 4800! I bet you can't overclock it to certain speeds the 4800 can overclock to! Yes, I'll look into it, and see if the extra MHz is noticable and worth it...
