Oh, ok. YOU don't *think* so. Well, I guess that means it's set in stone guys! Noone really cares what you *think*. Trying to make people who are against illegal immigration seem like racists by your speculation is really a bad tactic. I don't approve of illegal immigration because there...

    NFS: Most Wanted install trouble

Ok, I've been trying to install this game for a long time now. At first I could load up the auto play screen and begin to install, but it would stop on the first CD at 26% every time and do nothing at all, not even request disk 2. I tried installing from my hard drive, but now nothing even...

    Audio advanced options grayed out

My friend just got a mic so we can talk on skype, but his card doesn't let him use it for some reason. When he goes into advanced options it is grayed out so he can't get into the advanced options for the mic itself. We know that his mic is not outputting any sound because we tried it in sound...

I don't know what a mandatory user profile or GPO are, but I can do switch user if that is what you mean by fast user switching. How do i check the system or application event logs? Are they text files that I can access somewhere? EDIT: Never mind, I fixed it. i just hit restore default in...

Double click problems in wondows XP Home

I go into folder options on my screen (an andmin account, but not THE admin account) and change my preference from single click to double, because that's my preference. For some reason, it doesn't happen. It is as if nothing has changed. However, it works om my guest screen just fine and dandy...

Nothing fixes the 137GB limit! Nothing!

It's all ok now! It must have been my win2k disk, because winXP installed fine. I'm using it right now. All of my previously "damaged" partitions in win2k show up fin in XP and I've never been happier with a computer!

Nothing fixes the 137GB limit! Nothing!

The only problem with all that is that windows wont allow me to make a partition when I install it. These are the steps it does when it boots from cd: Put windows in a temp folder>ask if you want to install, repair, or quit>I select install and it asks me to choose a partition>the only two are...

Nothing fixes the 137GB limit! Nothing!

Ok, thanks for the info. I think you mean mbr for master boot record though, not mdr, correct? And does anyone know if the trial version of PM works with large drives incase fdisk doesn't?

Nothing fixes the 137GB limit! Nothing!

Well, I'm writing the drive with zeros (zero fill) as we speak, so that should solve all my problems as far as corrupt partitions I should think. BTW, what it mbr? And will fdisk allow me to make partitons that will actually work with windows? Keep in mind that nothing else has made...

They are brand new and have never been in any RAID. I'm partitoning will MaxBlast 4.0 from the maxtor site, but I also tried the one in Knoppix.

Nothing fixes the 137GB limit! Nothing!

Thats just the thing with me though. I can't make partitions. If I make them and try to install windows on it then it just says they are unformatted (although I had just formatted them to NFST) and it tries to format them. It fails, of course, and wont continue installing. I'll just install it...

Nothing fixes the 137GB limit! Nothing!

Well, I have tried that registry thing before and it didn't seem to work. However, I had not gone to disk manager to look for the extra space, I had just assumed it would be there! Now I feel stupid. One more question, can I make the partition for my C: drive smaller after that enable big HDD...

Nothing fixes the 137GB limit! Nothing!

My motherboard is fine, it says that both drives are 300GB, so did Knoppix. I don't need to install SATA drivers, that's for sure because it says so in my manual and I have had windows up and running before without those drivers. The only benefit I got from Slipstreaming SP4 was that my CD...

God, thank you! now I can finally stop trying to put 2000 on a damned 300GB hard drive and just go XP!

Nothing fixes the 137GB limit! Nothing!

Ok, I just finished making a boot cd for windows 2000 with slipstreamed SP4 and made a 50GB partition on my hard drive to install windows onto. It still doesn't work! It says the drive is 137GB, then it asks to format it (even though I already did with that partitioning program in Knoppix, AND I...

Can you put 'My Videos' where Documents is on the start menu?

I think you can just drag and drop. Make a shortcut to videos on the desktop, drag the shortcut to start, start will open automatically, drag to that my documents folder and drop. I think that works.

HDD over 137GB problems in Win2k, please help!

Ok, so just to be entirely clear, what I must do is: 1. slipstream SP4, 2. erase the partitions on my new computers Hard drives(because I didn't want them in the first place anyway), and 3. install the windows 2000 SP4 cobo disk thing that I made. If I am interpreting what you all said...

HDD over 137GB problems in Win2k, please help!

Yes, I have heard good things about partition magic. Now, will using partition magic make it so I am able to install on that partition without the errors I have had? I'm unsure if the progrma is making bad partitions or is there is something wrong with my copy of windows. However, I have used...

HDD over 137GB problems in Win2k, please help!

In order to install a service pack, you have to have windows installed. If I have windows installed, i cant make my 300BG HDD bigger than 127GB. I'll tell you what I've tried and failed at so far. First thing I did was I got windows working with that 127 GB drive and then got it to recognize...

    SATA Dives

If you meant run an IDE drive in RAID with a SATA drive then you can not do that. You can only put 2 drives of similar type and size in RAID. So yes to the two 160 ones, no to an 80 IDE and a 160 SATA.

Thanks for your reply. I don't have a multimeter on hand, but I will try the power switch connector on different spots of the header. I'm glad to hear that the led flash is something common, that scared me, but is it also common that plugging in one of the 4 pin cables will get power, but not...
