I'm getting back into the symphonic band scene to play my euphonium, but it's pretty loud so my neighbors would turn on me when I practice. Anyone run into this problem and have any good/crazy/creative solutions?
Shadow of the Colossus, the Silent Hill games (especially 2), and while almost nobody knows about it because it never left Japan, Ys The Oath in Felghana.
At my elementary school, if you got in trouble at recess, you'd have to run a lap or two around the track or face the principal's office. Then, the PE teacher got them to stop that because it was implying that running was punishment.
So my Dell Dimension 8200 PSU decided to quit on me and I'm wondering if I can buy a replacement off the shelf or if I have to get one from Dell. It looks like it uses a standard 20-pin connector to the motherboard and a 4-pin connector to the CPU, but I don't have another PSU to test with it...
From my limited experience with temp agencies, if there is legal proof he can work for a certain amount of time in the US, any US placement service should work for him.
Has he looked into postdocs?
Here's my question: Is there a place out there that specializes in finding employment for...
I recall that there was a way to change the Windows XP loading screen (the one that shows the logo and the blue or green bar) so that it shows some text related to what is going on during Windows startup. Does anyone know how to do this or am I taking crazy pills?
I'm hoping this will show...
The fan is a year and a half old. It has "fluid dynamic bearings" that supposedly make the fan last a long time, but maybe not. I think I'll plug it in to the molex connector and if I go a couple months without a fan startup problem, I'm golden. If not, then I'll try lubricating it. If that...
I have one of those adapters and I'll definitely try it out next time I'm in my case. My temps got up to mid-40s for the CPU, which is not a big deal, but the GPU got up to 75 C and I wasn't even gaming! That's not acceptable and would become even less so in the summer.
My 120 mm case fan, a Scythe S-FLEX SFF21F rarely does not turn on when I turn on the computer. I'll find out about it because SpeedFan's temps are 10-20 C higher than they usually are. Anyway, I can spin the fan a little and it'll start up every time.
Now, I can try another fan and try...
I've been using the 84.40 version of the Nvidia drivers for awhile because it was the newest driver I could find at the time that displayed full screen video on a secondary display at the proper aspect ratio. All other drivers would stretch widescreen DVD movies to fit my 4:3 CRT TV, but they...
I don't reinstall the OS very often and I want to make the most of it. I've already thought of doing these two things:
- Make a partition for the OS and Apps and one for all of my files so I don't have to move stuff off the drive if I ever need to reinstall again
- Make an image of the OS...
New Mexico is another more politically neutral state. If you can swing a job at Los Alamos National Lab, that area is really nice! Lots of ethnic diversity at the lab.
<- Worked there for a summer while in school
The Huskies have been uneven this year, to say the least. However, when they're on, they've made great teams look bad.
<- Huskies fan, regardless of their record
If the cables were so important, why didn't you remove them from the broken DVRs? It sounds like you were already given plenty of reasons not to think highly of their attention to detail.
If the HSF they send me doesn't do the trick and I can't find a really good reason to get my PSU replaced, then I will do that. I'm just trying to exhaust all options before putting my computer out of commission for a couple weeks while they look the CPU over.
If it was a simple answer, I wouldn't be here. The PSU's case is cool to the touch and the air coming out of it is not much warmer than ambient. The case has a 120 mm exhaust fan in the back, a 80 mm intake fan in front of the hard drives, a NB fan, CPU HS/fan, and video card fan. The video...
I placed a 280 mm house fan up to the open case right in front of the case, directed at the CPU, and turned it on to the highest setting. Within a few minutes of running two instances of Prime95 (I know, I need to download Orthos), CoreTemp was getting into the 65-70 C temp range.
I'm now...
That's pretty much what I told the AMD guy (though not so eloquently). He then said getting a higher-power PSU is what solved the identical problem for another customer. That's when I asked for the replacement HSF. :)
So I called AMD to try to resolve my A64 X2 4600+ 939 CPU overheating issue outlined here.
They said any PSU less than 500 watts could cause this CPU to get hot. This doesn't make sense to me. If a 400-watt PSU is providing enough energy to run the CPU, then it seems like the CPU would put...
