Any chance that Microsoft will be adding a start8 type of upgrade for the software in an updates release. It seems that this is a common complaint, so much so that you'd think Microsoft would respond to the market.

An often overlooked option is This Arctic product:
http://www.arcticsilver.com/ceramique.htm
I've never seen any comparision tests with it but I've used it on several builds and to glue heat sinks onto chips without retainers and I've never had a problem. It's a bit thicker and it's...
Do some research on your motherboard and identify which BIOS will work on it that's not the IBM/LENOVO bios. Flash the BIOS to the open market version and you can free yourself of the UEIF system.
CPUZ should identify the board for you and then you can go to Intel's website to get the...
Since the 90 is built into the design of the terminal end of the above linked cable, will it still maintain the Cat5e performance and standards or is it likely to have performance issues?
Thanks

Digging up some of JackMDS's old threads I came across sugestions for cisco products.
Jack, what do you think of this model:

Feel free to throw a few makes and models out there that would be a better buy than the Airport Express with the ease of setup, longevity, stability and range of the Airport Express right out of the box. Frankly I don't own a single Apple product, I hate their "apple only"...
I'm gonna bump this one for the weekend. I'm looking at an Airport Extreme for the ease of setup and supposed stability, but if there's something else out there that will provide stability, longevity and not require much more than opening the box and plugging it in, I'd appreciate the heads up...
Search ebay for:
DPS-700FB
You'll find a power supply that should fit a full size ATX case and will have plenty of power/plugs/wire length. It's designed for server applications and made by Delta Power Supplies so it's as good or better than any high end aftermarket power supply you'll...
While traveling last week, I noticed several wireless network connections were available in my hotel. I couldn't help but think that in a setting like a hotel would be a target rich environment for hackers exploiting this vulnerablity. With so many naive to internet security folks in the US...
Bladen's response covers it. You need to go into the bios and hunt for the proper setting to adjust to. That said, if you don't have a boot sector on your USB drives, most BIOS's will jump onto the next drive the system sees to find something to start the system up with.
Who makes your...
90% alcohol + q-tips work great for cleaning heavier build ups in electronics.
If you really want a dust free system....you need to enclose you case in a cabinet that has a high flow fan/blower to create positive pressure inside of the cabinet and uses a higher grade residential filter...
My understanding of technet is that you have to renew every year or the installs you have in place become inviolation installs. Is that wrong?
Are you saying a windows 7 license key could be used to activate a copy of Win XP Pro?
Wes
As thumb drives keep getting larger and larger with faster speeds, do you guys think we will see motherboards with internal USB ports so thumb drives can be used as cheap SSD's....Run your OS off of an internal 8 gig thumb drive and keep everything else on seperate drives runing raid.

I'm actually not sure if it will work...I was going to do the first install on that computer, and if the software wouldn't work there, follow MS requirements to uninstall and then put it on the P4 computer, unless I can get the XP software for a good enough price that I'll just eat the cost of...
Are you creating a new image of Windows 7 from an install disc? If so, why don't you just shut down, disconnect the other drives leaving only the drive you want to install to connected to the SATA-0 port(assuming the three drives aren't one large partitioned hard drive) and restart with install...
I've been hunting for XP Professional Service Pack 3 from a reliable retailer and the only thing I can find are OEM backup/recovery discs that require a pre-existing computer....IE a Dell or other name brand computer with XP pro already installed at the factory. I'll need two legit issues of...

Edit to add...I just placed an order for a hard drive from newegg...I hope they don't include the free fly's.
Didn't seagate recently purchase Samsung's HD side? Now Seagate does the warranty support.
Also, I've been reading on the reviews of samsung drives on Newegg that several people have been denied any Samsung Warranty support for drives sold as OEM drives even though Newegg is listing them as...
Not to spam you guys, but I was getting ready to get into bitcoin mining but realized I just don't have the space[read the wife said that space I wanted to use was already in use]to setup the multiple stations I was going to build. I have an Asus P5K64 WS Extreme motherboard that has 4 16x PCIE...
Look at your amperage rating lable on the side of the old seasonic & compare it to the unit you are RMAing. You might find the seasonic is a better quality unit.

I purchased one of these cases the last time around as well. The power button actually feels like an AT form factor button in that it clicks into a position and remains there until depressed again. An ATX form factor power button is only a momentary switch and releases as soon as you take your...
I'm aware of this but in the event MS ever launches a massive license infringement campaign, I'd rather not end up as the target of such a financial collection. I guess you have to play the odds of MS really wanting to go through all of that effort, cost and potential customer frustration but...
I have a already built a few computers for myself and family members.
All of the computers will be used to replace computers that are currently in service. Most are running XP and one has Vista. Can I use the license key numbers for computers that are being replaced for "Upgrade" windows...

That's what it looks like to me. It's very common place for the larger manufactures to build an enclosure for already enclosed power supplies. Take a few minutes to pull the screws off of the exterior and see if you find any labels/part numbers that you can turn up via google.
Your story of...
The title pretty much sums it up. I'm looking for for a program that will wipe a drive extremely well. I have a few used drives on there way to me and I want to make sure they are clear of any old data.
If you know of good & easy to use free/shareware available to wipe an old HDD, or even...
You have figured out what I'm hoping to use the boards for but like you, I've got concerns about how well it would work and what exactly the board could safely do. That's why I'm trying to dig up info on the boards. The boards are marked with a brand name that appears to be "Eternal" but I...
This mini board appears to let you turn a single motherboard fan header into a six fan distribution block that can be controlled with the BIOS.
Very similar looking product. I don't see one with a molex power connector though. Any tech on the company that produces those boards you posted...
I found a seller on ebay selling a distribution board for case fans that accepts 3/4 pin header control wires and a 4 pin molex power plug while providing six - three pin mountin blocks to run case fans from.
I cannot find any info on these and was curious to know if others here had ever used...
My experince has been that unless it's a used OEM cable from a reputable manufacture, the cables appear to be thin gauge wires with heavy coatings of insulation on them to make them look thick. It's a freaking disappointment and can't be safe for those users who are drawing some serious...
Anyone have a good source for quality power cords that have a heavy gauge wire, 15A+ rating and can be found in lengths ranging from 6 to 9 feet? If you do, or if you have thoughts on what makes a quality power cord, feel free to post.
Thanks
Wes
