I wouldn't buy a 6600 GT to replace the 9800 pro. The performance gain doesn't justify the money spent.
The very minimum is probably a 6800 nu and then unlocking... or 6800 GT / GS or x800 xl.
And if you have the money... x850 xt pe... but you want nvidia... which in that case you'd...
I think it was quite obvious from the start that the performance of the 7800 gtx 512 was due to the clocks and not the 512 mb of RAM ... right now anyway. This is evidenced by the previous 512 cards... all of which had practically no gains in today's games except for COD 2.
Hardocp shows what you're really getting by paying the premium. As a consumer, I'd like to know what it translates to. Sure I'll get better frames... but can I really crank the IQ up? So far it looks like it can run TR SSAA over TR MSAA on a single card. Which is about the only difference...
Most people who buy the $500+ videocards are either extreme PC gamers or enthusiasts. You can't tell them to buy a console instead.
On the other hand, you can buy a $200 videocard and still play PC games... where consoles are at a flat price.
You should install all of them. Quake 4 is the most demanding of the 4, UT2k4 being a peice of cake. HL2 not so demanding either... doom 3 is right below quake 4.
I'd install BF2 with that 2gb of RAM... and FEAR.
Oh man... that would be awful.
That certainly looks amazing... but default 3dmark @ 1024x768 won't look so hot. And at higher settings I have a feeling all the cards will simply get slaved...
Or maybe because it's a demo?
Anyone of you have retail? If your x800 xl performs fine in all the other games, then I'm willing to bet it's due to demo instability.
Definitely get the eVGA deal... and who knows, you might want to step up to a 512 gtx.
The Opteron 165 was so popular due to its OC potential that it's practically sold out everywhere.
Seems like half the people don't even know what Vsync is.
Fact is, your monitor can't display more frames per second than it can refresh in one second. Omgoshzor I got 100 fpszor ! too bad your monitor can only display 75 of those 100 in one second (assuming it's running @ 75 hz). That's...
Can you wait for 512 mb 7800 gtx benches?... or are you dying to burn $3000+
And SLI is not a waste if you can afford it. It sure is a waste if you starve yourself for 6 months to buy it.
The only problems I get from 81.85 is Guild Wars ground texture misrendering. This seems to be a common problem. Otherwise, there are no issues that I'm experiencing.
Precisely. If you bought 3dmark (or *acquired the pro version...) then you can tell it not to run those tests. The CPU tests are run without using your graphics card... so 1-2 fps is expected.
