40 gig drive showing 10 mb disk size?

Just so you guys know, GetDataBack is a FANTASTIC program. It worked where other programs wouldn't and got data back that other programs, such as PC Inspector File Recovery (which I've used with great success before), wouldn't. So I recovered what I believe is all of the important data...

40 gig drive showing 10 mb disk size?

hah, I wish it was 10 GB, it's 10 MEGAbytes f'd up (and it's "his" shoes) I'm going to try Acronis and see if that can do something to at least recognize the rest of the drive...have to see if I can get at the data somehow first

40 gig drive showing 10 mb disk size?

quick format won't overwrite all the stuff that was on there? have to do my best to recover all of the my docs folder - literally thousands of client files I know, no backup = dumb...we own Genie backup, but the OFM was just such a pain to install...erg

40 gig drive showing 10 mb disk size?

Boss's computer, 40 gig drive, wouldn't boot, said it had a reg error, couldn't find command.com, etc. Not a system with much media, should have TONS of free space. Go to do a WinXP recovery from the CD out of the recovery console, says there's nothing on the drive. Go to do a full recovery...

alright, checked the capacitors, everything's good...currently testing with only one of the sticks of 512, because it happened 3 times in the past day...can't stand it anymore after googling every one of the hardware errors, it appears certain to be a hardware problem...it does reference...

Looks cool jnd, came up with suggesting something around 400W, assuming full load. So I guess with my 350 I'm probably kinda on the cusp. dw, I'll check on those capacitors later when I have a chance...those pics are very helpful, thanks! After exams I'll try the disconnecting everything...

Oh, and I also have been running speedfan and it doesn't look like it ever gets up over about 45º if it's not under load. And usually when it crashes, it's not under load, so I don't think that has anything to do with it.

Ran memtest86+ over night last night for 7 hours...not an error to be found. Cycled through 13 tests or something along those lines. So I'm satisfied that it's not the ram. That's a start, at least.

dexvx, somewhere around the other day I found a site that indicates how much wattage various h/w draws...I think it said between 80-100 for the 1gb of ram alone, then about 20 for each hdd, and then a few other things that brought it up to close to 250 by my calcs and viper, thanks for the...

Alright, so it just crashed for the first time since I made the changes recomended above. I also ran memtest for several hours and came up empty as far as errors go. This time, perhaps due to the changes above, it didn't actually restart, but instead gave the following blue screen error...

well, memtest has been running now for a few hours and there are no signs of errors yet the computer hasn't rebooted, but I turned off that feature...although I'm not sure what the "reboot on error" does...because it's not like the system actually shuts down as much as just powers off and...

Wow Slammy, thanks for the detail...I will try all of those things. Thanks! Lasthitlarry, things are a bit better in there now...still a bit messy though. PSU is older...probably at least 3+ years. I already did the HD switch. Now with only two HD's via ATA, there isn't as much of an...

OKAY! This hasn't helped. I put in the two case fans (one up front, one in the back), am down to 4 hard drives, and thet hing has probably restarted 4 times today alone. I'm guessing I might need a new PSU after all...recommendations on size and brand and place to buy would be awsome...

PC loses power and won't reboot until PSU switch flipped

My boss' home PC is apparently screwed. It seems to run for a bit and then will literally just shut off. Just lose all power. It then won't turn on until you disconnect the power cable/flick the switch on the PSU. PSU problem? Mobo? RAM? Me? Thanks! These specs (or close to)...

Problem booting off new HD after "Ghosting" old boot drive

Hi Ski, I tried to use the repair console to fix it. Used "fixbootcfg" and one other one...probably didn't do enough to fix it. Just reinstalled windows instead. Thanks though.

Problem booting off new HD after "Ghosting" old boot drive

Hey guys, Used Ghost 2003 to clone a 27 gig drive onto a 100 gig drive. Operation completed fine, but I can't boot off the 100 gig drive...it gives the error message: "Error loading OS" I can still boot off the 27...if I leave the 100 in when I do that, I can see that it has the data...

you mean someone like me? ;) alright, great, thanks and not to question your knowledge, but just to ask in relation to my own understanding, I thought that having one or two fans up front, blowing air in, and one fan in the back, blowing air out, provided ideal cooling...? no?

I see. Yeah, okay, definitely put a fan there. Should I fill the two fan spots up front as well? (in the first picture) Assuming adding a 300gb drive to replace one of the 80gb drives, the 40, and the 27 - and adding in three case fans, all things being equal...no new PSU should be needed...

uh, that would interrupt my online poker game, wouldn't it? no, but seriously, that might work, but on the other hand, the rebooting isn't consistent - sometimes it'll do it once in a week, sometimes less, sometimes several times a day so that might be a hard experiment
