Glad to hear everyone's successes, and just to follow suit (despite former personal issues), the USB freezing problem appears to be OVER! SWEET!

You can't; you are a waste of space, Mem. You haven't done anything for these people and you simply can't. You also just ruined it for them by cursing at me, something I have not done at all to you. No longer will I post on this forum because of you, and if I find out even more information, I...

Considering you JUST edited the question and that was not how it was when I posted, I have every reason to be confused by a question that was NOT clear.

EPoX "EP-9NPA+Ultra" NVIDIA nForce4 ULTRA Chipset Motherboard

Huh? English please! I think you just asked me whether I tried a powered USB hub, and since I believe those need to plugged into a functional USB 2.0 port, that would not work for me. And I plugged my adapter into my LCD monitor's ports, and froze up. So that does not work.

I believe I already acknowledged that... But just because some people don't have issues with X2 processors, does not mean that the issue does not reside with people who have X2 processors ONLY. Just try to find one person with this board and an Athlon 64 (non-X2) and PROBLEMS WITH USB 2.0! I...

MEM - It is a 100% an X2 problem; you don't have to believe me, and since you are the only one who doesn't have a problem, there is no point dwelling on your case. Check out those links if you don't believe me. At least over at Abit's forums, some people don't have problems apparently, but...

EPoX "EP-9NPA+Ultra" NVIDIA nForce4 ULTRA Chipset Motherboard

Attention! Been doing a ton of research on the issue and will know more once I do some calling to other manufacturers such as MSI, ECS, and Shuttle which each produced boards with the SAME EXACT problem, but they also came up with BIOSes that had SOLUTIONS!!! One thing I know now is that...

Can everyone who bought a USB 2.0 PCI card that works for them please post what brand and model and maybe where they bought it???? (My Startech is not fixing the problem so I wanna see if another brand will work) Thanks in advance!!!

EPoX "EP-9NPA+Ultra" NVIDIA nForce4 ULTRA Chipset Motherboard

I bought this board from Newegg, no problems with the board other than USB 2.0 woes, and those are tolerable considering I have options to get around them for now. Yes, people complained of dead boards but if that happens, you can always have them send you another and another and while it's a...

EPoX "EP-9NPA+Ultra" NVIDIA nForce4 ULTRA Chipset Motherboard

Just tried my Linksys adapter with SMART disabled, and everything was fine until a minute ago when my adapter plugged into the PCI card froze up. While it wasn't plugged into the motherboard's ports, I figured it'd be easier to test since when connected to the PCI card it only freezes my device...

EPoX "EP-9NPA+Ultra" NVIDIA nForce4 ULTRA Chipset Motherboard

RobbyG - I believe my board that I bought from Newegg in late October is rev 1.1 but I could be wrong (def is rev 1.x) so I don't think multiple revs are out there. I am starting to wonder about S.M.A.R.T. enabled devices and their role with USB 2.0 since currently I have SMART enabled...

EPoX "EP-9NPA+Ultra" NVIDIA nForce4 ULTRA Chipset Motherboard

Ok, I am at a loss for my issue here... (kinda off-topic sorry) My Linksys WirelessG USB 2.0 card seems to work fine with USB 1.1, but with my new Startech USB 2.0 PCI card, the device freezes on me... Since I was not alone with the freezings with Epox's USB 2.0 ports, I assumed the problem...

EPoX "EP-9NPA+Ultra" NVIDIA nForce4 ULTRA Chipset Motherboard

@curran I currently had/have high temps compared to others with the X2 3800+ but in reality the processor can go up to 70'C according to the AMD I spoke with so you really have nothing to worry about. I have an XP-90 with a 1200rpm Yate Loon 120mm fan, and I idle around 35'C at 1.36V (10x200...

RideFree The USB 2.0 prob isn't really related to the front connectors for me at least. I currently have USB 2.0 enabled with a case cable going to my motherboard and all is well since I don't have any higher-speed devices plugged in to any of my motherboard ports (only a 2.0 PCI card)...

Look Mem, I know you are just reporting on your experience, but WE GET IT ALREADY!!! You have no problems, congratulations!!! Jeez, I have heard it a thousand times, but that doesn't help matters, you are not telling us anything new. Since it is not just me, and Epox is working on a solution...

curran Great work in all your testing! Yea, unfortunately, the problem is NOT resolved, at least for me even with the latest Dec. bios. I spoke to ol' Mike at Epox too, and they are really no help over there! I was told to change the Vcore settings in the BIOS to resolve the USB 2.0...

You can actually use a CD-R or CD-RW as I have done to update the BIOS. You can either make a bootable CD using UltraISO and a template called "flashcd" or you can burn the files to disk and then use the AWD flash utillity at startup (alt F2) and even though it looked for a floppy, it seemed to...

I did just a very small amount of AS5, but couldn't apply it in the way you are supposed to where you put a small dot of AS5 and the HSF spreads it out for you to eliminate air pockets. Since I was fumbling with the Ninja trying to get it to clip on, using all of my strength, the paste spread...

EPoX "EP-9NPA+Ultra" NVIDIA nForce4 ULTRA Chipset Motherboard

Right now, I am NOT overclocking and I idle at 40'C which is ridiculous IMHO but perhaps it's not strange considering my fans at low speed don't move much air. And yes, the intake fan is pulling air in and the exhaust is moving it out, but not in very strong fashion. I guess that I could always...

EPoX "EP-9NPA+Ultra" NVIDIA nForce4 ULTRA Chipset Motherboard

Funny you should ask about the Ninja, as I just put one on to try to cool my temps from the XP-90. I don't know if it is just me, but that Ninja was a pain the butt to get to clip on!!!!! I had to push soo hard on the metal clips in order to get them to just barely get into the retention bracket...

I am very happy with my SATAII Hitachi 250GB drive because it is one of the fastest, quietest, reliable drives but that has nothing to do with its SATAII capabilities. In fact, the drive comes with only SATA enabled and you have to use their utility to change to SATAII and doing so, makes no...

sgtdic - well then i guess you join the club of people who are upset at Epox's USB 2.0 support! Call them or complain to them via their USA website's "ticket" thing, since it seems that a very fundamental part of a motherboard such as USB 2.0 does not work properly. It doesn't sound like you...

EPoX "EP-9NPA+Ultra" NVIDIA nForce4 ULTRA Chipset Motherboard

sgtdic - I really don't know what is causing that other than bad headers or bad cabling going from your case. There are more variables in your issue, and I would RMA the board if I was you. All of my USB ports work, just I get system instability with USB 2.0! Can you tell me what USB devices you...

EPoX "EP-9NPA+Ultra" NVIDIA nForce4 ULTRA Chipset Motherboard

I have the Zalman NB cooler on there and even with the 7800 GT/NV silencer everything is fine. I was a bit concerned because the NV silencer has a backplate with bolts that stick out past the back of the 7800 GT, but they do not hit the Zalman. Temperature is about the same as it was with the...

No conflicts and I have a plenty powerful Seasonic 500w. Since Epox acknowledges there is a USB 2.0 issue and other people report the problem, I still maintain that it is not a per-user issue. The freezing issue is not instant, sometimes it takes hours of usage of a device, sometimes minutes...

Mem, I know you still have sucess, and would rather not find out that the motherboard is flawed, but since I want Epox to quickly fix the problem, I am hoping (sorry) that you will eventually run into problems. Couple things you could try (you can always go back to your original config if you...

EPoX "EP-9NPA+Ultra" NVIDIA nForce4 ULTRA Chipset Motherboard

Mem Thanks for the reply... sounds like we can take the element of different versions of XP and BIOS into the problem. Either the fact that you use a 7 port external hub has something to do with your ability to use USB 2.0 or it may be that since you don't use a device like a HD or wireless...

haha, I started reading about the S3 jumper and its implications, but as far as I can tell it only is necessary if you Suspend to RAM via Standby in XP, so most likely it wouldn't do much otherwise. But a valiant effort, nonetheless! The people at Epox speak very bad English or use very bad...

EPoX "EP-9NPA+Ultra" NVIDIA nForce4 ULTRA Chipset Motherboard

A few things: 1) The 7800 GT fits beautifully (I have it) and only is a nuissance if you have the NV silencer and hope to easily reset the CMOS (ie, the jumper is covered). The GTX, on the other hand, will cover the first IDE port but apparently you can still use it with the right cabling...
