Yeah for such a large density difference the performance increase is very small...it seems the .12 mainly improved heat, noise and power compared to the .11 series (and let's not forget the firmware horrors).
I wonder if WD and Samsung are doing any better with their 7200 rpm 500GB platter...
seagate 7200.12 1TB looks pretty good in this article:
http://www.xbitlabs.com/articl...play/1tb-2tb-hdds.html
I only wish there was a 3 platter 1.5 TB version...
if you wish to go the Seagate way you could try the new 7200.12 1TB which has only 2 platters.

not taking into acount that the dlink is draft n v2, is the Zyxel X550 better than D-Link DIR-625 ?
it's only about 5$ more: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16833127220
i'm in the same boat....
Hesitating between Asus 520gu, Buffalo WHR-G125....or pay a bit more for a DLink DIR 625 (allthough i guess the DLink DIR 615 is more in the league of the Buffalo and Asus).
I am also wondering if should get the EDIMAX EW-7318USG wireless usb adapter...i heard they...
doing 4850 crossfire on p45 (x8 x8) is a waste of those sweet 4850's
if u wanna crossfire, use X38 or X48
if u don't need crossfire, the p45 boards are great.
forget nvidia chipset mobo's, they have sucked and continue to suck
from this article:

"This is the reason we don't see pre-overclocked cards right now. I've been told by two companies that they are unsure if they will even be able to release the cards they want to, because the overclocks they...
it is rumoured there will be a new revision of the 48xx core......when will that happen? it would kinda suck to have the first revision if the cooler running new revision is out
8600 gt cards may seem cheap but the performance/price ratio sux...
if you want cheap and still have a good price/performance ratio then you could buy an nvidia 8800GS with 384mb or an ati 3850 with 512mb. (whichever brand you prefer, the cards perform similarly nice for the buck)
whatever...
slightly offtopic but fyi,
check this link out if you want to run diablo 2 in higher resolution than 800x600 (with bigger fov playing field):

mmmmmm looks yummy
by the way, why buy a g35 board when the g45 is just around the corner (prolly end of q2 of 2008)
i was talking about the upcoming g45 (and p45) boards that will be out in Q2 2008....not the P5E-VM HDMI
(by the way, i do consider P5E-VM HDMI top of the mAtx line at the moment)
the P5E-VM HDMI seems to be a sweet matx board (and the only candidate if you want to do some decent matx-mobo overclocking)
....but i'm holding off to see what the g45 boards can do (hopefully in april)....damn, wait a bit longer and nehalem will come along to change everything again :/
i would stick with a ddr2 board, you dont need a ddr3 setup now.
also, getting a ddr2+ddr3 supporting mobo is bad choice (it's just a temporary "boarddesign-hack")
