Where do I stand in 2009

If you want something to last you 5 or so years, than i would not buy a dx10 card, but wait for dx 11 cards to be released later this year. If that might be pushing it since they will be first gen dx11 cards.

Catalyst 9.7 Released

Installed last night. I noticed an overall preformance increase in the win7 64x version on the games I tried. LOTRO showed a dramatic increase for me at ultra high settings 1920x1200 and 4xaa. Rarely dropped below 45fps, averaging low 50s on my 4870 512mg. Vsync and tropple buffering on.

24" IPS/VA screens and "uniformity"

Eizo sells EOL refurbs at an excellent price. I Picked one up last month and i have nothing but good things to say about the monitor $400usd + shipping for a monitor that original price is $1800. I agree that new, the value is not there, but as refurb, I feel i got one hell of a bargin.

LCD has blue vertical bands

Damaged display. I would say it looks like someone pressed on it very hard. Take it back if it is still under warranty. I know of no way to repair that. Perhaps someone else does.

Concerning the best enthusiast setup now that the GTX 275 and 4890 are out

You might be better off with a single card solution depending on what your planning on getting. Throw up your whole spec, and I am sure more people will give you advice. make sure you specify what size monitor you are expecting to be using.

MS Office 2000/2003 and Scanner

No it is not. The only reference I can find for the old scanner is in office. Thatis why i am finding this as such an odd problem. Nothing udner device manager, I removed the original software/drivers but office shows it as a selectable device.

I have changed out one scanner for another, and office is displaying both scanners as available under the insert\picture\scanner/camera. The problem is I can not seem to remove the old scanner from the list, and it is occasionally defaulting to the disconnected scanner and causing an error...

Raid0 error.

I decided on a whim last night to install ff7 and I started receiving an error on of the drives on boot up after a hardboot. mobo is a dfi dk p35-t2rs running 2 500gig drives in raid0. I can log in to safe/normal mode, but it will hang or reboot at that point. I have see this error...

PC boots to black screen

I have seen that sata drive not detected before, and it had to do with my overclock. happens as soon as i set my fsb to a certain speed. CMOS reset is a good start, and if you get any beep codes on boot up, find out what they mean for your mobo.

Outlook 2003 Calendar issue.

I have a client who recieves meeting request changes, and when she accepts them, it adds the request as a new meeting instead of updating the original meeting. I have not been able to find the solution for this, and I am sure it is something simple that I am just overlooking. Any ideas ?

Moving Outlook information to different computer

You can take a 2000 pst, and put them into 2003, but not the other way around. you will have to recreate the pst as a outlook 97-2002 file from the outllook 2003 client, and then send her that pst.

Agreed. Both companies have solid drivers for the cards now. It pretty much depends on what games you want to play. For me, I prefer the way ATI handles video so i traded in my 8800gtx for a ati 4870. This is just my preference though.

I agree, messed up colours in bios would usually mean monitor, or monitor cable. I do not see anywhere that you checked heat. I would check for any over heating parts when you game. There are some free diagnostic programs out there to check temps. If i missed you saying you have done that...

Help overclocking this HD4870

I find that 8.8 gave me the best overclocking preformance. I was 825 stable with the asus top bios. Changed drivers, and it was no longer stable. 850 core is not a standard overclock at all. 800-820 seems to be the most reasonable overclocks that I have seen. I run mine at 805mhz with 8.10...

4870 vs GTX260 with Sep10 price

The canadian price, and the american price will be very different. I find the nivdia cards sell for a great deal more in canada and that is why i went with the 4870. I am not sure if it is because ati/amd has a canadian branch and can keep their prices more in tune with the the us prices...

xbox, ps3 and pc that I know of. I would wait and see the reviews for it. I expect many sites will review the game. Or yoou could buy a ps3. Considerably cheaper then a pc. Not sure what other titles you want to play though.

Correct ;) If you use winflash a good chance of bricking your card. If you use atiflash from a dos boot disk, you have very low risk. I did not do it to overclock really, I did it for the better fan settings. the difference in the noise output and how much better it keeps the card cool is...
