    I've recently switched over to 100% Vista, and will definitely not be going back. There is one service pack, and the performance difference in games is negligible. Vista is quality. Run with it. It's not the new ME.

    I made it once on an XP SP2 machine manually using the instructions on the Windows Super Site. Then I made another using nLite on an XP SP3 machine. Both had the exact same issue.

    Cause just what sort of problem? An incompatibility with a new version of an nVidia driver? I've since uninstalled 169.21 and gone back to 175.16, and 175.16 still breaks RDP. Dropping back to 169.21 fixes it every time.

    After another Windows reinstall, it turned out to be the new 175.16 nVidia drivers for my 8800GT. I had to go back to the 169 drivers. Which kinda sucks, but I guess they work.

    Yes, brand new driver. I just made a brand new Windows CD with SP3 slipstreamed in using NLite just to make sure. The system still doesn't recognize it as a Windows disk when I run SFC. It asks for the disc even if it's in the drive.

    Actually I just noticed this in the event log: Application popup: : \SystemRoot\System32\RDPDD.dll failed to load I ran an SFC, and SFC will not recognize my XP CD. It's an extract of an XP SP1 Corporate CD that I slipstreamed SP3 into. I guess I borked it somehow?

    It is behind a router. The router is configured to forward the port. It worked fine immediately prior to formatting the hard drive. Also, as stated, the clients behave precisely the same when trying to connect via the LAN as they do remotely.

    Uh, no, you're way underclocked. You're using a 285MHz FSB, but your multiplier is at 5. Opteron 165s have their multiplier capped at 9, so you can't do 10.

    Is it under warranty? If it is, send it back. If it's not, I'd remove the heatsink and reapply thermal pads/grease/whatever, or just buy an aftermarket cooler like a Silencer. (I gotta ask.. gorgeous 21" flat screen, running at... what? 800x600? You should be in jail, boy.)

    You *have* to turn down your HT and RAM multipliers if you want to OC your CPU. At the default values, and your FSB at 220, your HT will be 1100MHz and your RAM will need to operate at DDR440.

    My PSU appears to have a temperature controlled fan and as far as I can tell it's dead-ass silent. The 120mm fan isn't loud, but the volume of air it's moving makes some wind noise. It was a little too loud for my tastes, but now it's running at 7V and it's silent as well
